So I just submitted by SIR for Irvine, and when I got to the page that offers housing, it said that I have "no offers."

Does this mean I submitted my SIR too late, and therefore there's no housing left?

Or is it because I'm a transfer student, and priority is given to non-transfer students?

Or is it a glitch?

I'm hoping to get housing for next year (whether it's for the fall quarter of the winter quarter.) I only live 20 minutes away from campus, but I'd like to live on-campus or very close to campus. Any suggestions, comments, etc?

PS - When do we have to accept our financial aid by?

Thank you.

Don’t worry, you’re definitely guaranteed one year of housing, as long as you submit the housing application by tomorrow. I think that the message you’re referring to is only there because you haven’t submitted the housing application and also because they haven’t sent out the assignments yet. :)

This is what I’m getting at the Housing page:

What would you like to do?

Apply for Housing

You are not eligible to apply for housing at this time.

Review/Accept a Housing Offer

You do not have any current housing offers.

Other Tasks

There are currently no available tasks for you at this time.

Does anyone know what’s going on?

Also, a couple more questions:

1) Is signing up for orientation for UCI mandatory?

2) When will I be able to sign up for classes? After orientation?

I see what you mean now, and I’m pretty sure it’s because you JUST submitted your SIR and it needs a little more time to process.

Cosign on that financial aid part. Is there a deadline to accept it?

Orientation for UCI is not mandatory .

However a counseling appointment is. You should be receiving your email about that soon.

It’s sometime during the summer you meet up with a counselor and sign up for all your fall classes.

However i would go to orientation just for the simple fact of meeting a few new people that you know for sure is a transfer, because once fall semester start it’ll be impossible to tell.

Also for Housing there are tons of student housing near UCI in the different courts from what i’ve seen.

They run about 500~ per person if you share a 1 bedroom with someone else. I don’t remember the price of UCI housing but it’s much more. They are within walking distance. Less than a 5 minute walk. So thats another option
