I have just finished submitting my UC application I just want to know what my chances of admission are for UCI...here is a general overview of my stats:
I'm applying for computer science major
GPA's for 10th and 11th grade (since uc's don't look at freshman and senior yr)
-unweighted: 3.55
-uc-capped: 3.79
-weighted: 4.02

Best SAT score: 2020
-Verbal 600
-Math 740
-Writing 680

Top 2 SAT II scores:
-Math IIC: 780
-Biology M: 700
-(I got a 410 on chemestry -.-) That shouldn't hurt my admission chances b/c the UC's states that only the top 2 scores will be considered, but i'm not sure...
I'm in the top 10% of my school in terms of unweighted GPA
I'm in the top 5% of my school in terms of weighted GPA
My course throughout high school is almost as rigorous as it possibly can...by the time I graduate, I would have taken 12 AP classes, most of the rest are honors classes
During 10th and 11th grade, I took 6 AP classes and got scores of 2,2,2,3,3,4 (got AP Scholar award)
I took two college courses at Rio Hondo during the summer after my junior yr, and got A's on both of them
I am in 4 clubs, 2 of the 4 are pretty significant:
-I'm the president of my Botball team (robotics competition) and got 1st place in the regional tournament
-I'm the vice-president and MVP of the Science Olympiad team and got 5th place regional in an event that i did
I have about 140 hours of community service
I think my essays are pretty decent

So with all that being said, can you guys please tell me my chances are at the UC's, particularly UCI, and please tell me why if you can. I'm worried that my below-average GPA will greatly hurt my chances.

Oh, and I'm a California resident. Thank you.

Only 50%?!?!?! My GPA is like the only thing that is a little below-average for UCI. Oh gosh, I’m so depressed now T.T. Thank you for chancing me though.

You stats were sorta similar to mine… you have a higher SAT but a lower GPA than I had. But you have more ECs that I had.

With the budget cuts and all I honestly don’t know what your chances are. But if I got in, maybe you will. That’s all I can really say… hahahahaha

I haven’t read in detail the state legislation requiring UC’s to take the top 10% from all the public hs, but it’s essentially that, a requirement.

You have a very good change in getting accepted, but again, with the budget cuts it can go either way. Still, given your current stats, I’d say you are above average and have an overall good standing. Sure your GPA is a little low, but given the amount of AP classes you have taken, that would be taken into account. Other than that your other scores are very good and show that you are very well rounded in academics. The ec’s you listed will surely set you apart from other applicants aswell. Best of luck! :)
