Uci Is Not A Science/engineering School!!!

<p>UCI is better known as a school for the humanities. It's engineering school is rather crappy. It's way below schools like UCSD(#11) and UCSB(#21) in engineering. I think UCSB is way more of a science school than UCI. UCSB's physics dept. is consistently in the top 10. It's Material Science, Chemical Engineering and Electrical Engineering depts. are in the top 10 as well.</p>

<p>uc davis is probably as much of a science school as uci. too bad they shut down the veterinary school at uc davis. neither is known as science or engineering schools.</p>

<p>Okay, the Veterinary school didn't get shut down. It lost its full accredidation and they are working hard to get it back. As for UCI, it doesnt compare to schools like UCDavis adn UCSD in the biological sciences. UCI sucks for the sciences</p>

<p>Why does it "suck"? Did you go to school there? Do you know anything about the school other than what your 17 year old friends tell you or what you read in U.S. News? Because I know that my friends that did their undergrad majors at UCI and now have M.D.s from Harvard or Ph.D.s from Berkeley would beg to differ.</p>

<p>I will agree with him in that UCI is very strong in the humanities. But just because we're good at humanities doesn't mean we're not good at the sciences.</p>

<p>sixthbatter, where are you getting your information? uci is well known for their biological science, infact it's considered on of the best in the nation in the field of biology and research. they send many of their students onto pretigious grad schools such as harvard and jh.</p>

<p>Sith UCD is better than UCSB for Biology but both are much better than UCI for biology. Also UCDavis Vet school which is considured the best in the nation already had its accrediation fully restored and it never compleatly lost its accredidation.</p>

<p>UC Irvine's engineering SAT Math average is higher than Brown or Dartmouth's engineering students. </p>

<p>Clearly UCI engineering students are superior to the ones at Brown and Dartmouth.</p>

<p>Ehy VTBoy, Sixthbatter, and anyone else who's bashing UCI's science department... could you tell me where you're getting those claims from? USNews (which is not always reliable)? college guide books? or was it just pure speculations?...</p>

<p>Because even though I love Davis so much, I've also heard a lot of great things from UCI's science departments. Both of my cousins who went their got into great medical schools.... UCSF, Stanford, and stuff... I hope that that wasn't your personal opinion because that would make this debate absolutely idiotic....</p>

<p>No it isn't my opinion it is just the truth, UCI Biogram isn't as good as those in the other UCs.</p>
