you still didn't answer my question.... where'd you get that conclusion from?

Various rankings such as USNEWS and other rankings, How much they spend on research in the field, the strenghts of their graduate programs, ect.

This is from an article that's based on the analysis of USNews and World Report's ranking of the private and public universities in the US......

"Since 1995, the following other UCI programs and specialties have been ranked among the top 50 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report: critical theory (2), health care management (9), third-world literature (12), photography (15), 19th- and 20th-century British literature (18), gender and literature (19), experimental psychology (19), cell biology/developmental biology (21), 19th- and 20th-century literature (22), chemistry (28), biology (29), psychology (30), political science (31), physics (31), computer science (34), history (36) and arts (45). The graduate rankings are based on surveys in which scholars rated schools' reputations for scholarship, curriculum and the quality of the faculty and graduate students."

Do some research before making wild, inflammatory claims.

strenght of graduate programs? well, what about the fact that UCI has a med school and UCSB doesn't? what about the fact that pre-med is ranked WAY higher at UCI than at UCSB? pre-med doesn't really mean anything, but I think we can conclude that the sciences at UCI are better, except for physics. there's A LOT of research labs at UCI. I got accepted into both UCI and UCSB and UCI offered to let me start doing research this summer. they pay some of their current students $300/week in the summer if they decide to do research. I wouldn't know about any research opportunities at UCSB because it's not like they care about getting me involved as soon as possible.

Lazieery UCD still ranks higher in Biological Sciences than UCI, which is what I am talking about.

newpswhine about research UCD has a lot more research in biological science than UCI.

UCI actually ranked higher than UCD and UCSB in undergraduate research.

The debate between UCI, UCD, and UCSB will continue til then end of existence... try skimming through this post made last year (there's plenty more of these kinds of debates on CC)....

"Those who do not learn from history, are doomed to repeat it" - George Santayana

Let's learn from the past and agree to disagree....

xranger not for Biological Sciences, UCD spends a lot more money on research there.

so how about UCI compared with calpoly SLO in computer science vs software engineering?
