UCI Notice

I went to myadmissions to check my app status and this notice is up. (Anyone else get this?)

Important Information for You

Dear Applicant,
We'd like to bring to your attention some important information regarding your UC Irvine application and the admissions process:

The university may offer you admission in an alternative major, either as noted on your application or another alternative major.
All applicants must submit complete and accurate information in their original UC Application:
For freshmen applicants this includes listing all A-G course grades and courses taken for the correct respective terms for admissions consideration by the filing deadline. If freshmen applicants have repeated A-G courses, applicants must report the original and repeat grades for these A-G courses.

Freshmen applicants must also report ACT With Writing or SAT Reasoning scores on their original UC Application; then request that the testing agency send an official score report to us for all ACT With Writing or SAT Reasoning tests the applicant has taken. We require all scores and will use the highest scores from a single administration. SAT Subject Test scores are no longer required. However, submission of SAT Subject Test scores may add positively to the review of your application.

You only need to have your official (SAT or ACT) score report sent to one UC campus you have applied to and all of the UC campuses you have applied to will automatically receive the report. If you choose to have your official score report sent to the UC Irvine campus, the address is:

University of California, Irvine
Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools
260 Aldrich Hall
Irvine, CA 92697-1075

The deadline for your official (SAT or ACT) score report to be received by the UC Irvine campus is December 31, 2011. You are responsible for ensuring UC Irvine receives the official score report by the deadline.
For transfer applicants this includes listing all college (transferable and nontransferable) course grades and courses taken for the correct respective terms for admissions consideration by the filing deadline. If transfer applicants have repeated college courses, applicants must report the original and repeat grades and all colleges attended. This includes college courses taken while in high school.

If you are admitted, please be aware that your admission is provisional. Information on your application must accurately match official documents submitted on your behalf, including your successful completion of the courses you listed as follows:
Freshmen: courses listed for 12th grade (minimum 3.0 weighted GPA for senior year);
Transfers: courses listed on your application upon which your admissions offer was based, and information provided in the Application Update (AU) report. UC Irvine will only consider all application information and course work reported in AU by the AU deadline (e.g., January 31 for fall 2012 consideration).
Please ensure you complete your audition(s) and meet supplemental application deadlines if either are required for the major you have selected.
Please maintain an accurate email address at all times. Email is the means used to notify you when your status has changed in your MyAdmissionsApplication@UCI or a message has been posted.
If you are admitted and decide to attend UC Irvine, use the MyAdmissionsApplication@UCI to monitor required documents and important next steps, and verify receipt of documents by viewing the "MySchools," "MyTests," and "MyData" menu tabs.
Remember to frequently login to MyAdmissionsApplication@UCI to obtain current information about your admission status, verify important details about your record, update your contact information, and correspond with your admissions counselor.
I have read and understand this notice: Send Acknowledgement

Newp, did not get. Think I got it last year, though.

Last year’s looked like this: [UCI - Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools](http://www.admissions.uci.edu/maa_uci/stc.html)

■■■. I applied for the Literary Journalism major and my alternate as psychology social behavior… which i don’t want to be in at all. If for some reason I end up going and get admitted as a psych social behavior major can i change majors after transfer?’

I guess i’ll go ahead and accept this acknowledgement. Btw asphyaxiac did you get accepted? What happened did you accept this acknowledgment?

I accepted the acknowledgement, and I was not accepted last year (but I also didn’t have my pre-reqs done, had a way lower GPA, etc…) - I don’t think it means anything, though. Don’t read too much into it.

I don’t see the message. Maybe because I didn’t list an alternate major?

Also, when I check my application through ZotPortal sometimes it says “no application record found” and other times it says “being evaluated” which is really annoying. Never happens when looking through admissions though. Must be a bug.

Hey Cosmic,
I got the same exact thing as you when I logged in…

I applied with a 3.34…Sociology major Alt. Feminist Studies I think.
I don’t get why they can’t accept me into my chosen major. Oh well, I’m just gonna accept the acknowledgement

^^@ Acoustic. I didn’t get that message and I’m also a sociology major at 3.38 GPA… interesting

Hm…I don’t think it really means anything since someone above stated that she/he accepted the acknowledgement but got rejected. Meh.
Lawlking, did you apply to any other schools? Sorry I might have forgotten lol

I hope we don’t get rejected like asphyxiac… My gpa is 3.30

did any of you guys TAG uci?

@all

I got it last year when I applied as an engineering major w/o my pre-reqs done. I’m not sure that it meant anything, but maybe they saw I had almost no relevant coursework and were like ‘uh… alternate major?’

But you guys have your pre-reqs done, so… yeah - idk what it means. It probably means nothing!

Oh - and last year I had almost a 3.3 by the TAU. This year I have a 3.9 and basically all of my pre-reqs done.

Wait, asphyxiac did you apply to UCSD last year? And you got rejected from UCI last year because you had a 3.3? What major?

I never said that I was denied admission because of my GPA. IMHO, I got rejected b/c I didn’t have pre-reqs done. Major was bioengineering (at UCI) and biochem (at UCSD).

I’m sure if I had my physics/ochem/calc done I’d have gotten in, b/c I would have just done TAG.

Edit: JUST TO CLARIFY - In my opinion, a 3.3 with pre-reqs completed in a non-impacted major should definitely be enough to get you into UCI.

I am not saying that there is any correlation between getting that message and being denied admission. I really don’t think that there is a link between the two.

acually i have half of my requisites done for uci,i have all done for ucd, uc sc and one missing for sb… hmmm

@CosmicBubble

But Literary Journalism doesn’t require completion of pre-reqs right? I thought all you need to have done is 1 year’s worth of lower division writing courses. Like composition/critical thinking?

Oh I see! Thanks for clarifying asphyxiac! I also think that your major might have been impacted at UCSD and UCI…if it wasn’t impacted, pre-reqs wouldn’t really matter. I think pre-reqs are weighed heavily for impacted majors. What do you think?

@asphyxiac, true. Which I took english 101, 102 comp and 103 critical thinking. These tree classes is the equivalent of one year right? Because i did complete them.
This is how it looks here for me [ASSIST Report: LAEC 11-12 UCI Articulation Agreement by Major](http://web1.assist.org/web-assist/report.do?agreement=aa&reportPath=REPORT_2&reportScript=Rep2.pl&event=19&dir=1&sia=LAEC&ria=UCI&ia=LAEC&oia=UCI&aay=11-12&ay=11-12&dora=LITJRN)

@cosmic

Yeah, you actually did a year and a half’s worth! So I think you’re fine there. Really, it probably means absolutely nothing that you got that msg.

@acoustic

Don’t stress! I’m sure you’ll get into UCI. You don’t even need to complete pre-reqs for sociology, AFAIK.

@Asphyxiac: I’ll try to stop. Top choice is UCSD…don’t really care about UCI but just a little thinking here and there…

Cool! Let’s see what happens then! ^^

loL @ acoustic same here, uci is my last choice but it’s a great school nonetheless…
