I applied as a transfer student, but I heard they gave out the decisions (even for nursing transfers) last year around March 18th.
Also, I got an email last week saying that my application is under review. However, my two other friends who sent their application to the nursing program did not get this kind of email. Did anyone get this kind of email?
Fingers crossed I know it’s pretty early but I’m hoping they start giving out the decisions tomorrow, March 1st!
Post here if you applied to their nursing program too!
Good luck, my friend. Younger sis also applied for nursing, but as a freshman. We’re hoping she gets in. UCI is close to home, so we won’t have to worry about housing for her.
I just talked to the assistant director and she said over 2200 students applied and for the most part only 80 were accepted. I guess it’s ridiculously competitive this year:/
The numbers for this year are not up, but the numbers from last year are posted. Here’s the website to give you a good idea on your chances if you are transferring:
Breakdown of data: Last year, only 11% of Transfer applicants were accepted into the Nursing Program.
Total applicants last year: 111
Total students admitted: 13
Total students who enrolled after admission: 6
Breakdown of data: Last year, only 4% of Freshman applicants were accepted into the Nursing Program.
Total applicants last year: 1,915
Total students admitted: 77
Total students who enrolled after admission: 27
Also, those who are accepted with Regents are notified mid-March. I had a classmate who transferred last year into the nursing program and she was notified near the beginning of March. She had a 3.9 GPA, was a CNA, and had volunteer hours as well.
Fall 2015 Transfer/2nd Bacc Applicants: 95
Fall 2015 Transfer/2nd Bacc Admits: 15 (16% admitted)
Average Cumulative GPA: 3.78 GPA
Cumulative GPA Range of Admits: 3.40 – 3.96 GPA
If your stats look similar to this data, your chances are better, but it also depends on your essay as well as any experience you may have (i.e. volunteer hours, CNA certification, working as a CNA)
