UCI or CSULB for nursing program?

Hello all! I am currently a senior in HS and I am planning to become an RN in the future so I applied to many schools under a nursing major. I was admitted to CSULB as a Pre-Nursing major (I have to apply to the actual nursing school later) but I just heard from UC Irvine today and I was admitted straight into the nursing program!! What school should I go to? I know it might take longer to graduate at LB but tuition is cheaper. What are the pros and cons of both schools?

Thank you so much!

Congrats, both are very competitive and vary well regarded. You won’t go wrong with either.

Given your individual situation - i’d lean toward the direct admit at UCI. It is one less hurdle to jump through. True tuition is higher but, not having to qualify again as a Jr removes some doubt.

Good luck.

Also, 5+ years at LB might ending up costing the same as 4 years at UCI. So the questions is can you get out of UCI in 4 years? Plus you’re out in the work force earning that much sooner.

And congrats!

Go for the direct admit at UCI.

Definitely go with UCI

May I ask what your stats were? (gpa, sat/act, extracurriculars)

I was impressed by Long Beach; very supportive staff.

My kids were not impressed with UCI.
