D21 wants to get a BA or BFA in Fine Arts. Interested in Character Design and Digital Art. She was accepted in both UCI and CSULB; which one has the better program?
Long Beach is considered to have one of the best programs for art animation etc. I would for sure pick that one over Irvine. Is she looking to work for a studio?
Meant to add that the UC’s really only have general Art program degrees vs. the Cal States have programs specific for the animation illustration industry.
She would like to work for Disney, Pixar etc or gaming company. She is waiting to hear from USC and UCLA
Ok yeah, for sure she will want the program at Long Beach. It’s a fabulous program, with great connections in the industry for internships. USC has a great program too, but UCLA only would have a general art program. They offer an animation program for students after they’ve received their BA as part of their film school. Here is a link that talks about the program at Long Beach https://www.csulb.edu/school-of-art/degrees/undergraduate/bfa-art-options/bfa-art-option-illustration-animation
Thank you for the info. We will know more in 2 weeks if she gets in the other 2 schools and then make a decision. Do you have any input on dorms and college life at Long Beach?
Do you any opinion on Fullerton’s BFA entertainment art program compared to Long Beach
Sorry, I have no clue about dorms or college life on any of those schools as I’m up in Sacramento. But I bet you can do some research and find out or post on those schools threads and get some input. This list might be helpful when making her decision…looks like Fullerton’s program ranks higher than Long Beach. Did she apply there too? My son applied to all of the CSUs that had animation programs and was accepted to all of them. He is going to San Jose because he wants to be close to home. https://www.animationcareerreview.com/articles/top-20-animation-schools-and-colleges-west-coast-2020-college-rankings
Yes she got accepted to Fullerton also. I really appreciate your input
You’re welcome! Bets of luck with her decision…sounds like she has a lot of great choices! My son is waiting on USC also, but I don’t think he will get in as it’s so competitive with there being only 16 spots in the program.
Good luck to your son and appreciate your advice.
