I got accepted into UCI and UCSD and am going back and forth between the two. I am a chemistry major and am planning on moving on to pharmacy school after my bachelors degree. I love the location of UCSD but am thinking it would be more competitive than UCI and it would be easier to come out of UCI with a higher GPA. I've also heard that UCI is less stressful and I would have extra time to do research or work in a local pharmacy for experience. On the other hand UCSD has the more prestigious name.... UCI's campus doesn't bother me much since I'm not a big party guy and enjoy just relaxing in the on campus apartments with friends (love the UCI housing). UCI is also closer to to home (I live in LA) so that's a slight plus. Which is better for chemistry? Please let me know if what I've heard is true and which is the better pick? Thanks!

the differences in prestige, if any, is marginal at best. UCSD ranks ~25 in Chem and UCI is ~30.

If you like UCI better, go there. Pharm schools won’t care.

Is it true about UCSD being more competitive than UCI when it comes to maintaining a high GPA?
