What's the average weighted GPA that UCI accepts with reasonable SAT scores? Also if you have a bad GPA (around 3.2 for example), ok SAT scores (2100 and above), excellent essay, barely any EC's, passionate about music, no awards (unless honor roll or principle).....will that get you in? And no those are not my stats (i'm in 10th grade)

I got in with a 3.27 and a 1970 :-)... few ECs.... I also got into UCSD.

Hmm. I'd say you around this:
-3.7 weighted gpa (maybe a little lower)
-17xx in sat1
-around 600 in both sat2s
-100+ hrs of community service
-ok essay

This should get you in. However, there is always a lottery in the admissions system, so don't just match this and be confident about getting in. Take in account impacted majors also (you will need more for those). Space will always be limited, so UCI may have to reject qualified people.

Oh yea, much higher stats would probably get an "OK" from adcoms immediately :].

uci i think is too good of a school to be accepting at 60%

^ lol dang i concur. every1 i know in my school got into UCI. soem even with regents. i only know one person that got rejected. pretty sad. UCI should get more selective.

all these people gettin into uci makes it seem too cheap and easy

i think uci is pretty damn easy to get into. it should be more of an exclusive school

those stats will get 'you' in (thank 'your' sat score for that).

well dont count on that completely. i known 2 friends sofar that got into ucsd but got rejected from irvine; ur essay matters alot

personally, i think all the UCs are easy to get into except UCLA and Cal

bleh. i got rejcted from la but got into cal.

No. It can't be that easy to get into or else we wouldn't be ranked 40th in the nation.

It's easy for SoCal high school students to get in, especially if you come from a well ranked public high school.

I'm damn proud of my admission, even though my sats were way below the average 3.91 w gpa (mine was a 3.3 at application time) and I know with that GPA there is NO WAY they've should've let me in.

Also, UCI is based on comprehensive review, not a point system. My friend with a 4.0 w got into UCSD and LA but got rejected from Irvine, and she was ****ed.

I don't care what anyone says about UCI anymore; we're freaking awesome and WE ARE THE 4th BEST UC and people just need to deal. Man I can't wait until the 2007 rankings come out and we're STILL the 4th highest UC. I'm going to laugh SO hard.

Why do people put to much worth into those rankings..the rankings dont mean anything if you dont apply yourself. Besides, you sound like an idiot going around saying "we're ranked 4th best of the UCs."

i don't think so. all of the UCs are getting harder to get into.

im still proud to be an anteater nonetheless

I think UCI seems to be easy to get into because they have a month long admissions process. This year, I know as a fact UCI posted separate waves of admissions. It was probably because they were waiting for SIRs to be sent in early (declines from people who got into higher UCs). Also, UCI is still looked down upon because it is new and there are higher UCs (UCSD, UCLA, and UCB). This could be a reason why they accept about 1/3 of appeals yearly (many people decline UCI's admissions). This strategy seems to help both UCI and UCSD grow fast though =].

edit: Oh yea, UCI also give admissions to the winter quarter.

To ChemNerd, I got into UCI with:
-3.4 gpa weighted
-1700 sat 1
-470 math II
-510 lit
-610 bio-ecology

So yeah, I'm guessing I had a pretty good essay because I don't think I deserved admission based on grades and test scores. Then again, my high school is ranked fairly high in california and the nation. So that might've helped. I think if you have decent grades, a great essay, and show some form of leadership in your EC's, you'll get in. But you never know, it is like a lottery.
