UCI REJECTED ridiculous

<p>well i just got rejected from uci. which i really thought i had a good chance of getting in
i had a 1990 sat 1s
3.8 gpa weighted
780 sat ii c
640 chemistry sat II
student of the year for chemistry regular
first year varsity wrestling</p>

<p>i am doing an appeal and i have no good reason, but im just doing it because its better than doing nothing.. but i really think its ridiculous how i didnt get in.. maybe im just hecka cocky. ... any insights? i dont want pitty, i dont need it. thanks</p>

<p>backup is santa barbara. and my major was sociology..</p>

<p>mmm yea i know that UCI is perceived as a better school, but for a sociology major i would think UCSB has a comparable program...don't feel 2 bad.</p>

<p>hey dude shut up at least you got into santa barbara. I got a 3.8 gpa with 1940 sats, 4 varsity sports including 2 league championships in varsity wrestling. i got in nowhere but ucsc</p>

<p>Yeah, my friend got into UCLA, UCB, but somehow got rejected from UCI. Silliest thing ever. lol.</p>

<p>This is interesting. I was just speaking to my friend after Berkeley decisions were released. He got into MIT, Cal, UCLA, West Point, Cal Poly SLO, but rejected from UCI. Haha, he's not crying...</p>

<p>I'm not very surprised. Getting admitted is extremely high this year and your GPA is on the lower side for that school. Did you have any other ECs? Sorry you get rejected but I don't think an appeal will help at all. Good luck with everything.</p>

<p>aside from the fact that this is a YEAR OLD THREAD, </p>

<p>datanator... the UCs take GPA really seriously... you cannot win with a low gpa. The conclusion is either that:</p>

<p>1) you are not smart enough to handle UC level work
2) you're smart enough based on test scores, but that means you're lazy, doesn't it?</p>

<p>The UCs don't want not smart enough, or not disciplined enough students. GPA is at the heart of that decision.</p>
