So ya I called their transfer services today, and I told them I wanted to transfer from UCR to UCI but they told me I didnt have a chance simply because of budget cuts and they said your best chance is to drop out of UCR and go to a CCC? Should I do that? it seems pointless now since i cant get into a TAG agreements so theirs no guaranteed admission. Can anyone who transfered to UCI from a UC disprove this statement? And if not what should I do?

What I'm hearing is that all the UC's are cutting down admissions by quite a bit due to the economy. Not sure what the estimate number is now that I think of it. Since UC to UC transfer is their lowest priority to begin with, I wouldn't be surprised if it's true. I doubt its impossible though. Is this your first year at UCR?

well, if you were to drop out and go to a CCC, what will guarantee you getting back into a UC? stay at a UC!

why can't you get a TAG agreement? i dropped out of UCSB and went to a CCC and i have a TAG with UCSD.

Alright man you got to tell me how you got a TAG agreement. This is my first quarter here at UCR so Im still fresh. send me a pm if you'd rather answer that way but ya hook me up!

TAG agreements are only for CCC students.. so, maybe you would have better luck going to a CCC? But it still is not a guarantee..

You guys are confusing me! Doesn't the G in TAG stand for guarantee? I'm confused.

You can only sign a TAG at a CCC like bbbf said. And it's only a guarantee if you are certified by it. Even if you participate in it and complete the application, unless you're able to complete all the requirements it won't mean anything. Once you do, counselors sign it and then you are guaranteed an admission. It's pretty simple to do though.

You can go to CC, sign a TAG for UCI- you do not get gurantee of major in most cases, just of admission if you complete the requirements.

Just a FYI, I was at the TAP conference @ UCLA last Friday. One of the speakers from the admissions answered a question about cutting the number of applicants accepted. She said that they had no plans to make any cuts in acceptance rates.

^ Great news nijikon. Krazyguy, if I were you I'd just apply and see what happens. There's no harm! If you don't get in, go to a CC and sign a TAG! Simple as that!
