im going to be a freshman this coming fall at UCI as a bio major and i was wondering if it was at all possible for me to transfer to NYU sophmore or jr year? plus i am a CA resident so i don't know what my chances are or what i should do to make my chances better thanks

Yes it is possible to transfer to NYU. NYU is a private school so they don't give any special priority for New York residents and etc. Get a high GPA and continue to brush up your records by continually working or participating in extra curriculars. They DO NOT ignore your high school GPA and SAT scores by the way. Everything is taken into consideration. You will need about one or two letters of recommendation as well.

wow! thanks a lot! but i have another question, will the extra curricular activities and clubs i was in during high school even matter when transfering, like can i put those on the application or only the things ive been doing in college count?

I think it should matter, since they even look up to your high school GPA and SATs. I am not too sure though, but I know a lot of other people in this forum are much more knowledgable about this out of state transferring than I am.

first make sure you really want to major in bio. as you probably know... about 80% of incomming freshman to UCI everyear are declared as bio majors... and about 50% of them end up dropping out after the first year. so my advice is take some of the pre req bio classes first (such as cellular biology, thats the class that kills the dreams of bio majors). just because you want to major in biology doesn't mean that you can actually do it.

haha scary, well yeah actually i'm currently undecided but taking the classes that bio majors should take, thanks for the advice!!
