UCI Transfer 2013 Decisions

Congratulations all of you! and congrats on the scholarships as well!! It looks like the only people who got accepted today got the scholarship as well. Looks like it shouldn’t be much longer for the rest of us

Clamfest why are you trying to get into the international house? im minoring in japanese so if i could live there with the japanese students that would be super cool
im really scared that when i submitted the application it was like “hey are you sure this is less than 60 units here” which is true but i have about 16 units coming from my AP tests in high school (5 that were 3 or higher) so idk if they still see i have a total of 60+ with those or if they will be like oh doesnt have 60 units denied.

I was just accepted into UCSD today around 5pm for those of you who also applied there!!! I am still waiting for Irvine! I am still soooo nervous!

Here are my stats again:

GPA: 3.46
Major: Philosophy
College for UCSD : Warren (first choice)
Extra Cirric/ Current Work experience: Yes
in the Honors Program at local Community College

ACCEPTED!!! (finally)

Major: English
GPA: 4.0
TAG: Yes
Regents Scholar

Best of luck to everyone else still waiting!

@rickyseg My son had that same situation as you with the AP credits. Send a message through the portal alerting them to the situation you have. It’s not too late. If you don’t write to them now and you are not admitted, then you are going to have to write an appeal. Do it now!

@purr Yes. I’m torn between the decisions though!

@socalfreshman, shouldnt they see that i have over 60 when the ap credit is counted? I put ap scores on the application

Hey guys! I am a psychology major, who still hasn’t received anything :frowning:
Super happy for those who did receive notifications and congratulations on the scholarships!

@rickyseg, We called the UC application call center about this situation. My son’s credits didn’t add up either on his application. They said to write on the application in the section where you can add information that he was planning on using AP units to meet the 60 unit requirement. It wasn’t enough to just assume that they would figure it out. You could just send a message stating that you wanted to be sure that they are aware that you are using AP units to be considered a junior transfer student. If anything, it shows that you are very interested in being a student at UCI. My other son just graduated from UCI. It’s a great school!

Ah, Alright I’ll be sure to do that. I used up my entire additional comments section explaining that I’m actually a 4.0 student because the only grades (out of 7 on the transcript not including this semester in progress) that arent A’s are a C in Japanese 1 (got an A in ja 2 later) that was during senior year of high school when i was taking 4 ap classes and had sports. (plus i didnt know i wouldnt get into uci that year so it was taken as a personal goal) then that summer I took wr 1 and got a C (with the schools worst teacher pretty sure she was fired because including me only 4 of us were able to pass that term). my first true full time semester was straight A’s (14 units)
how do i check my application to see if i did mention that i was using ap credit and how do i send them a message.

@Ricky well I think it’d would be really cool! I like talking to people from other countries and I’m very interested in talking to them. I’m Hispanic so I like comparing and contrasting my culture to others. I speak Spanish and took French in high school and some Portuguese classes too, so if nothing else, maybe practice those languages!!
Minoring in Japanese? Nice! I was thinking of learning an Asian language, but I have to continue French and Portuguese :stuck_out_tongue: And good luck with your AP units thing. Hope it doesn’t affect your admittance…

@rickysey,

How do i check my application to see if i did mention that i was using ap credit? You have to go to the site where you applied on the general UC application. You can still review the application that you submitted.

How do i send them a message? That’s easy . . . it’s the same portal at UCI to see if you have been admitted . . . just send them a message through the portal.

I hope you get in. You sound like you have worked really hard. I hope the wait is over with soon!

@clamfest I speak some spanish and yea im planning to double major and then double minor in japanese and German.
@socalfreshman, Ohh alright I’ll do that, and I guess I worked pretty hard haha this is my first year at IVC I have a total of 33 units from last semester (14) and this one (19), finished IGETC and am finishing an AA-T in Psych this semester. I wouldnt expect this to get me in though since I had stuff like being an eagle scout in my freshman admission and didnt get in haha.

does anyone know that if they released only one batch of regents scholarship admitted students?

Looks like they only admitted regent scholars today…No decision yet for me :/

@speakbraille

Did you TAG UCI?

Nope No Tag! I wish I did though since I switched majors. But I feel pretty good and confident about my application even though my GPA isn’t the greatest.

but like everyone else here…we’re just dying to know :)

@speakbraille

I know what you mean, I have been dying to know about UCI too. I applied to UCI as a TAG and the other UC’s were reaches, and I actually got in to UCSD during the first batch. Doesn’t matter, because I still want to know if UCI will take me.

Hey @socalfreshman, I posted on the uci admissions facebook page and asked them and they said this “Hi Ricky! When reviewing your application, your AP scores/credits will be evident. " then i asked “Ok, I wouldn’t need to specifically state that I’m using AP credit to meet the unit requirements to transfer as a junior then correct?” they replied with " Correct. As long as your AP tests and scores are listed on you application, they will automatically be included.” so It looks like I’ll be ok.
