@PurronYou
My dad retired from the Marines in 2002 with a total service caused disabilities at like 70ish% (i guess they added up the vision hearing etc disabilities) so I get my tuition paid for, I’ve been told by a retired marine in my class that i could get my housing paid for so im curious. Also thank you for your service.

anyone else get a mini heart attack when they get emails really late at night? GAH this wait is seriously the most difficult thing…

@youseehopefully …like i said. “Its like a pregnancy test”

@ricky You’re welcome. I need to file anyway for scholarship apps so I’ll look into it paying for housing. We plan on applying for campus family housing. Maybe because I’m applying to U’s this year we’ll qualify for aid.

@purr, Just so we are clear I’m talking about the post 9/11 GI Bill. I get like 900 from my community college through pell so I’m prolly going to get more although my dad got a job no so we make significantly more, (like 110k total) except Im a triplet so we have three college students and my parents pretty much refuses to pay for anything so im counting on the grants and stuff.

@purronyou and @rickyseg, are you guys talking about the BAH veterans get when they study full time? If it is, I’m not sure it applies to dependents… I actually think it doesn’t. Either way, BAH alone in this area should be enough to cover rent/dorms.

Has anyone been receiving any other type of e-mails from UCI besides the 2 tours they sent out a while ago (Last one was in February I think) and the scholarships?

^I received a financial aid e-mail that said that everything was on file. And I also received one the other day that essentially said, “Thank you for your interest in UCI and for attending our College Week Live.”

@larinaga College week live, I believe, is the tour itself right? I haven’t gotten the ability to go on it.

Hence, had anyone NOT received any scholarship e-mails?

When you guys say scholarships, do you mean an offer for scholarship or something of the sort?
I got an email from the financial aid office saying they “may need additional documents”, but when I go on the MyAid status link it shows everything as complete and by the deadline. Is this what you guys are talking about?

@SBVett Other type of scholarships. I gotten that e-mail as well in regards to financial aid and how I may need additional docs as well but I was reading other posts by others, stating that they got reagents scholarship or something like that.

@yazziiie786, in that case, in reply to your initial question, I haven’t received any scholarship emails.
But this is what I found about Regents’ Scholarship -
“Award notifications will be sent out to transfer recipients in early April.”
Freshmen were notified about Regents’ scholarship in early March.

:)

@SBVett Thank you!!! I was semi-nervous! Lol

I just got a scholarship email for the Town and Gown Scholarship and I applied as a Criminology major. It says its for students who have had “a five year break in attendance in his/her educational career.” It’s kinda weird because I haven’t had a break in school or a break from having a part time job for like the past 6 years… so I’m not sure why I got that email lol… but this is what the intro said:

“Dear prospective student,
I would like to make you aware of a scholarship opportunity that you may be eligible for contingent on you being admitted as a student at UC Irvine.”

I just wish they would tell us already!!

@yazziiie I haven’t gotten scholarship emails at all. I’m a film major so maybe there aren’t a lot of scholarships for that? haha. I did get the financial aid one awhile back like 2-3 weeks ago that said they “may need more documents for the 2013-2014 year.” Which is weird because it sounds like it’s for someone who already attends the school, ya know? But I’m not looking too much into it. I don’t have my acceptance letter yet so I can’t count on anything yet haha.

@clamfest I haven’t received anything yet till now. A few hours ago I got a Town and Gown Scholarship but just like you, I don’t want to have my hopes too high either! It would be more of a disappointment if I were to be hard up on it and not get accepted (please forbid) but I do have my eye on UCI as my top choice! With that being said, I’m going in as a impacted major (I think) as a psychology and social behavior major with an alternative of Sociology. I feel its going to be hard on my end… so freakin’ nerve racking. Every time I get a email notification on my phone, I slowly pull down the tab out of fear. Call me crazy but I’m sure everyone is at that state of mind right now.

I’m definitely crossing fingers for us!

@yazziiie I feel you, bro. Lol. I was in this spot last year. Waitlisted for UCSD and waiting and waiting just to be told “lol nope.” This time I did TAG for UCI, but I still haven’t heard anything and I’m wondering if a lot of people did TAG so they can’t accept all of them, ya know? That’s what happened with UCSD last year. They said the TAG gpa was 3.5. Then we later find out that they were cutting off people under a 3.53 so even IF you had TAG, you weren’t guaranteed a spot.
Again, we just gotta play the waiting game so good luck to all of here anticipating on the board! :P

@clamfest I didn’t TAG to any colleges this semester so tough luck on me! I hope this waiting game will be over ASAP. Like I said in the previous posts, it’s like as if I’m waiting for a pregnancy test…waiting to tell me if I’m preggo (screwed) or not! Haha Good luck to you and to all!

@yazziiie As long as you applied to other schools, I’m sure you’ll be fine! I made the mistake of only applying to UCSD (well UCLA too, but that was totally unrealistic lol) haha so that was definitely my mistake. I mean, as long as you have a back up plan, it can’t be THE END OF THE WORLD. So yeah, hopefully we all get in haha.
