UCI Transfer 2013 Decisions

@clamfest Yeah, I applied to other schools. I got accepted to one already but its my LAST resort. UCLA, is was just a joke on my end… I just applied for the heck of it. Nearly 100,000 applicants… not even a inch of hope that I will get admitted. Lol

Man looking at last years thread it looks like a large group of applicants had to wait until late April for decisions!

Irvine will give u guys decision at pretty much at last minutes. Based on decision from last year, don’t expect to get accepted to irvine anything less than 3.3. In addition, they weren’t really accepting many people from appeal as well.

@kpxcsfcubt What about TAG people? The gpa you have to maintain for TAG is 3.2 so did they reject people under a 3.3 WITH TAG? I know UCSD did it last year since their cut off was 3.53 and TAG was 3.5. Plus they had way too many TAG applicants.

Man, I’m so nervous, I only have a 3.31 because I have only 7 classes total not including this semester because I had a lot of ap credit (like 15 units ps, when it asks if im sure i want to send it im below the unit req thats because it wont include the units from aps right? my cc counselors showed me the units awarded by uci for them so id total like 61) and i took japanese 1 and 2 during senior year of highschool and i got 1 C then and then a C in wr 1 that summer. Then my first full semester of college I had a 4.0 ( for that semester) so it kinda screwed my gpa up and doesnt really represent my true performance.

@rickyseg I’m sure you’ll be fine! They’ll see the 4.0 and that’s gotta count. Plus as long as you explained yourself on the essays and all. Good luck!

we’re all gonna make it brah

not srs

@yazziiie786 @SBVett I don’t know if its just me, but I never got any separate award notifications for the regent scholarship. I was admitted on 3/5 and under the congratulations message, it said “You have been selected for Campuswide Honors Program and Regent’s Scholar” That’s when I found out about the scholarship.

@dmsgml so maybe the first people accepted were honors students? I know they always tend to hear first and all. At least from what I heard from other kids who got into other schools.

@Clamfest I don’t think it will count for enough though because my personal essays werent that great in my opinion im bad at writing

Out of curiosity, how many of you guys are Psychology and Social Behavior majors? With that being said, would anyone know if its an impacted major? I would assume Psychology, itself, would be but Social Behavior is tied in so it makes me wonder…

@yazziiie786 im a psych major… but I’m not sure about psych and social behavior. I doubt its as impacted as psych alone though :)

@rickyseg I’m pretty sure I’m worse at writing essays ahaha. Have faith in yourself! Lol, cheesy, I know, but positive thinking seems to work out for the best. Did you apply to other schools or is UCI your number one?

@clamfest thats the only one, I’m pretty tight on money so spending more than one app is too much and I have to stay instate public because of my benefits through my dads military service and uci is the only one with criminology I believe. I wish i could see the average admitted gpa for criminology, I wish they would see that hey this guy only got the two C’s during highschool and a writing class that summer, then his first real semester of college straight A’s. My dream is to eventually work for the fbi.
Also, for my first essay I pretty much copy pasted a lot from the essay thats the same as the freshman one because I literally applied like 12 months before as a freshman so like what else would be different.

@rickyseg I think the benefits from your dad’s service will look good. If you only got two C’s and they were in high school, not CC, then I think you’re good. Unless your C’s were in classes that are good for criminology, then I wouldn’t worry.
In my case, I went to UCSC my freshmen year and I was accepted even with a D and a C- in AP Stats. They said if your grades fell below a C, they would take your admissions away, but I think they let me slip through because I’m a film major so AP Stats is pretty darn useless for a film student.
I also copied my essays from last time to submit this time because this is the first time I apply to UCI so they haven’t seen what I’ve written haha. Not to mention, like you said, not much has changed. I want to work in movies. That’s about it lol.
I’ve seen people accepted when they had really poor gpa’s their first semester (like 1.9) because they said they improved and ended up getting high gpa’s. I totally feel ya, though. I pretty much had a 3.0 at UCSC but at my CC I had at least a 3.5. Sadly, combined this lowers my gpa so I’m hoping they focus on my CC transcript more than my UCSC one.
(I also only applied to UCI so fingers crossed for you and me!)

Oops this was kinda long haha.

Does anyone happen to know when the next batch of decisions will be? Assuming anyone has a clue haha.

@xcballin
I’m wondering the same thing! I’m hoping this upcoming weds since it seems their decisions come out on wednesdays hmm…

Informatics major transferring from a CC in Norcal, with a TAG. I’ve gotten two or three different scholarship emails and a fafsa email since late February. But still no word from UCI on a final decision. Are they going to send out any more acceptance emails this month does anyone know?

I think the only reason people heard back in March was for the honors program. I went to UCI’s honors program site and they said they had until the end of march, I think, to basically apply for the honors thing and it said people who were chosen for the honors program would be notified in March. So I think the real general admissions people (the rest of us) will hear back starting in April. So I wouldn’t freak until it’s officially april haha

How do they choose students for the honors program? I’ve had nothing but As the entire time I’ve been at cc but heard zip about the honors program.

Sent from my SGH-T999 using CC
