@formomilan
I am not saying UCI would be any easier, but I am saying it is less competitive than UCLA.

Rejected, but I knew it, I didn’t fulfill the calculus requirements which is pretty much killing my chances for business school.

I’m going to Berkeley Haas, though, so I’m extremely happy
congratulations to all accepted UCI students!

@jcarlomonti when did you know you’re rejected?

@stephchrista Yesterday around 8 pm. I didn’t check the result in all day, though. They might have been up long before that.

@lbtocth

So if given a chance to work at NASA or Devry you’d turn down NASA because you’d “break it”? Strong beta logic, but whatever floats your boat dude.

Though I’m not saying UCI = Devry lol

@art2CS
Haha. Lol. NASA would be different. I may pointed out one main factor of my decision, but it doesn’t mean it is the only factor in my decision.:P

Hello everyone, I am in the waiting list… I think I will get in

I’m confused. I was rejected by UCLA and UCI. I expected UCLA but not really UCI. I have a 3.91 gpa. I’m a Phi Theta Kappa officer and have done extra circulars so I don’t understand why I was rejected. Should I even bother to appeal? :(

Just for future references, I checked myadmissions around 10pm but didn’t receive an email telling me my status has changed until 3am. So sad… UCI was my first choice.

I don’t get why I didn’t get in though… 3.4 gpa, only missing calc 2 for prereqs, lots of EC’s, solid personal statement. Anyone else rejected and appealing?

@Cainme Whoa! with your stats I don’t understand why you got rejected either! I think you should definitely appeal!

It never hurts to appeal, but call before hand. You need to know why you were rejected. There is no point in writing an appeal if you’re going to talk about your GPA, when in fact the problem is missing transcript and whatnot.

Admission status change came in at 3am today! Sooooo it’s official. I keep hoping that they sent out the wrong rejections, but they didn’t. Can’t believe so many of you guys 3.5+ got rejected too?!?

@ lbtocth

im in the same boat as you
all my friends and family are going crazy pushing me to go to LA haha
Id wanna go to UCI but it would also break my heart to say no to LA/Berkeley

@ Cainme: You got rejected with a 3.9? What was your major? Did you finish your IGETC and prereqs?

@ Ibtocth:lol. That’s probably not the best reason to turn down a school, the fact that it will be hard. Yes it is hard at UCLA but would you want to live your life thinking “what if”? I’m an older student and admit that I’m probably not as sharp and quick as most of the younger undergrads but given the chance at LA, I just couldn’t turn it down. Challenge yourself, just saying. =]

so what’s the deal with the wait list? Is it really all-or-none like the rumors say? Does anyone know a transfer student’s likelihood of being accepted after being on the wait list?

AH waiting so long is eating at me.

So bummed I’m so late on finding this thread (and forum in general)! Would have loved to join in on the transfer fun/not been alone in my sense of fear. Congratulations to those who were accepted! I’m so sorry to see these rejections, as well. I’m really shocked!

Looking forward to see what UCI has to offer this fall!

@ coloredlbright: What is your major and GPA? I was accepted off the wait list last year for UCI. I think it really depends on how many people SIR to UCI. If accepted people don’t SIR to UCI by the deadline than more spots open up to take wait list people. So I doubt its all or none, or whats the point?

What is the waitlist letter like?

@evelynnnlaw
I know it’s really hard for me as well.

@iDizzle
Are you officially going to UCLA?

Waitlist letter:
"Thank you for applying to the University of California, Irvine. Due to limited capacity for transfer students, we are not currently able to offer you admission for fall 2013.

However, your application is strong and as a result, we want to provide you the opportunity to be included on a transfer student waitlist for UC Irvine. If you choose to paricipate in the waitlist, you will be notified by June 15, 2013 regarding your admission status. At the same time, we caution you to not miss the deadlines at other colleges/universities while waiting to receive our waitlist decision.

If you would like to place your name on the waitlist, please confirm your interest by completing a Statement of Intent to Participate (SIP) no later than 05/15/2013. The SIP is available by clicking on the button below. Additionally, by June 1, 2013, send a copy of your college transcripts to:

Office of Admissions and Relations with Schools
260 Aldrich Hall
Irvine, CA 92697-1075

If a space for fall 2013 does not become available and attending UC Irvine remains your ambition, we encourage you to continue with your studies and, if possible, consider applying for a future term. Because UC Irvine is highly selective at the transfer level, we recommend you establish a strong academic record above minimum eligibility.

Again, thank you for your interest in UC Irvine. We wish you every success in achieving your educational goals."
