@ lbtocth: I’m actually in my 3rd quarter here at UCLA. I transferred here in Fall 2012. Just finished my mid-terms last week.

For those who’ve been wait-listed are you guys going to wait it out?

@iDizzle
Nice. What’s your major? Are you in a frat? Just curious.

“Your financial aid award is currently being reviewed. Your updated award should be available within the next ten days. If it has been more than ten days, please contact our office at (949) 824-8262.”

Anyone else seeing this msg on my aid award? Or did some people already received their financial aid package?

Last year, half the people on the waiting list were accepted from UCI.

I was put on the waitlist for International Studies major.
UCI would be my first choice, but I am happy for now because I go into my second choice which is Cal Poly SLO- Business Administration Major.
I’m very anxious to hear back from UCI.
Do you guy know if the transcript we send until June 1st would affect the waitlist acceptance? The spring grades would still now show because grades would come out mid-June. I hope I get in to UCI so that I can have a headache to choose which one to go lol
I heard it’s All-Or-None and I sincerely hope it’s ALL! Good luck to all.

rejected. no hard feelings doe, I’m going to ucd.

@ lbtocth: I’m an anthro and global studies major. No, I’m too old for frats. lol.

Parting words:
Last year I only applied to UCI and they laughed me out of admissions. After one final academic renewal and more classes, UCI had to take me this year because I TAGGED! The best thing that ever happened to me was the UCI rejection! I would not have received aid (average grades). I applied for academic renewal last fall, and got in to every UC I applied to, and even got 2 full rides. Sometimes, you have to be thankful that you were rejected. Keep your eye on the ball, don’t pay attention to what anybody says.

@ clamfest

I agree with rickyseg

Accepted as a Junior-level Bio major with a 3.0 on Friday.

Did any bus admin majors get admitted with missing pre reqs?

I called UCI admissions this morning. They wouldn’t tell me what the last date for decisions will be. I asked them about my application in particular, they looked it up, put me on hold for a few minutes… then said it had been forwarded to the Biological Sciences dept for further evaluation… Probably because I have 2 years of foreign college coursework, but still… Can’t be a good sign.
I am waiting for an answer from the bio dept, but my hopes sank when she put me on hold and said my app needed further evaluation. Hopefully they won’t take too long now… Good luck to everyone still pending. :T

whaat why is the Social ecology theme house not available for new transfers!!! i would put that as one of my choices since the only reason i really want the international house is because A:my minor is japanese and i like japanese culture but if im probably not really going to meet any japanese international students then i dont have much of a reason.

I was denied on Saturday.
Computer Science
3.2 GPA
several extracurriculars
strong essay

When I called admissions this morning to ask why I was denied, the lady I was talking to said that she would not be able to look at my application to help me determine what was wrong with my application. Did anyone else have this problem? I’m thinking about appealing, but the only new information I would be able to give is a few extracurriculars that I forgot to include in my original application so I was hoping to find out if there was anything specific about my application that hurt me.

UPDATE:
I called the office and was told my application was rejected (and the TAG of course) on the condition that I didn’t meet the English composition requirement and that it was a requirement for the major.
As you can see here [url=<a href=“Academic Resources | Office of Undergraduate Admissions | UCI”>Academic Resources | Office of Undergraduate Admissions | UCI]Transfer Admission, Selection and Preparation/url there are no additional requirements for the major.
I also DID complete the English composition requirement and the class they were confused about was my English course done at UC Santa Cruz because it was under an affiliated college there so it didn’t say ENGLISH 1 but instead the name of my affiliated college and the course subject, but all we did was write essays.
The girl on the phone said I have to submit an appeal about it and that she would make sure mine is one of the earliest ones that get reviewed. She said she couldn’t say that it would be totally overturned since she’s not on the committee that reviews them, but that she would think I have good chances since it was an issue of confusion on their part. She said I would probably hear back earlier than 3-4 weeks depending on how quickly my appeal is sent
I’m getting my appeal done today and mailed out tomorrow with the quickest shipping.

I don’t want to act like this issue is solved and that I should be relieved since anything can happen…
I’m just mad that UCI didn’t tell me this sooner so I could clarify it up. I had it written on my UC app as well as my TAG app. I explained it, but they still rejected me.

Well…that’s the update.

@clamfest Is this the number you called: (949) 824-6703? I got off the phone with UCI admissions about an hour ago and was told that I wouldn’t be able to get someone to look at my application. This whole thing is frustrating.

@compscitransfer: Yeah. I said I was a transfer student and wanted to know why I was rejected. I had TAG so maybe that’s why they looked it up.
