Just licked the envelope with my appeals packet. Going to mail that sucker in tomorrow with some priority shipping on that. I’ll let you guys know what they say, if not to at least shed some light on the appeals process lol.

Opinions wanted! Currently I am going to UCR and it’s my dream to go to UCI. UCR to me, its a good school, but its not where I want to be. Everything I do here feels like its for society rather than to fulfill my own goals and aspirations. Although I am making it by here, I feel depressed here. My main goal as of junior year in high school has always been to go to UCI; senior year, didn’t make the cut even with an appeal. Everyday at UCR to me was a step to UCI, but rejection has broken that staircase, leaving me pondering what’s the next move. The time I’m at now is really confusing, should I just stay at UCR, and leave the dream of my teenage years unfulfilled for the rest of my life, or keep going at UCI? I’ve been thinking how can I definitely make it to UCI, and the thing that comes to mind is TAG. Should I just drop out of UCR, attend a CC for a year and attempt to tag my way in? I don’t even know if this is possible, but I will seek a counselors advice. Trading a year of time to fulfill a dream isn’t that long, people have traded much more for less.

Anyways just wanted all of your inputs. Thanks

@clamfest YOU GOT THIS!!! Them mo’fos better accept you or hell will be raised!

@hopey are you a freshman or soph? You can drop out and save a lot of money to finish up your GEs then apply as a TAG applicant to UCI …depending on your major of course.

hey im also on the waiting list

They better accept you clamfest!!! who else will i have my adventures at the international house with!!!

@Hopey: I totally understand you. UCLA was my dream school since about the 6th grade. It wasn’t until high school that I decided to be a film major and realized UCLA would have been prefect for that. I’ve already been rejected twice, and granted that’s because the film school there is EXTREMELY hard to get into, even with a perfect transcript. I decided to try for a third time for grad school so I knew where I got my BA (BFA? lol i don’t even know exactly) in film would matter.
I got into UCSC out of high school and I felt exactly like you did while I was there. I knew it was a good school, but I felt like it wasn’t for me or for what I wanted to do. I debated about staying for the sake of keeping my reputation back home of being at UCSC. I decided to transfer to a school in Socal to be closer to UCLA so it could be easier. I did my work at the CC and applied to UCSD and got waitlisted and didn’t get accepted, when my twin sister did. It was really tough on me to stay another year and deal with my parents disappointment lol.
I’m in a tight spot right now with my appeal process going on with UCI and honestly, if I get into UCI, I would be so happy and I wouldn’t regret leaving UCSC as a freshmen. Even with a year loss, it’s ok because I would be in a better position to figure out how to apply for film grad school.
If you are certain that UCI will help your goals for the future and the counselor says there’s a way to do it, I would say go for it. It sucks to live in regret, especially if you had the chance to go for it.

Hi. I’m Linette and now you guys have my life’s story here. Or, at least my academic life in a nutshell haha
Good luck Hopey!! Oh and sorry guys for the crazy long post lol

@yazzie and @ricky Haha thanks guys. Keep your fingers crossed!!! According to the person on the phone, I should hear back 3-4 weeks if not earlier depending on when they get my packet so yeah. Hopefully before June 1st so I can SIR and get my housing :I

@Hopey11 definitely go to a CCC and transfer to UCI
After two years at CCC…I got accepted with a 2.9 GPA. I honestly screwed up and got two Cs in my first year… yeah… So i’m kind of surprised I still got in& w/ no tag Lol. Maybe it has to do with applying to a non-impacted major? I applied for Film and Media studies, and i’m most definitely going to change my major to Economics when I go there. UCI is my backup college. I honestly never thought that I might be going to UCI! my first choice is UCD and i’m waiting for the appeal decision by the end of May. If i didn’t get in, i’ll be going to UCI.

duuuude you gotta get in!!! im worried i wont get a japanese person in the international house haha and then i wont know anyone there!!! so its like two bad things in one hahaha

What are the impacte majors?

Does anyone know if we have to take a math/english placement test if we already took english 101/met math requirement?

Clam is a girl??? Astonishing. Anywho more info about my situation. I am a mechanical engineer and I’m finishing up my second year so going in junior year which is why it’ll be odd if I go to a CC… Still wondering if its possible. And I also finished all of my breadth here for UCR’s engineering program, thinking I could achieve UC reciprocity.

Good luck clam! I will also be joining you in appealing though mine probably won’t be done till… Saturday!

@Clamfest its like waiting for our decisions all over again because we all want you to get in!

I got waitlisted as an out of state/International student (not sure what I’m considered because I study in New York but I am from Asia) with a 3.6 GPA. I really hope I get off the waitlist because UCI is my top choice. I guess I got lucky though considering I am the lowest pick of UC students. Hope they take me, I heard they have a strong international community and I am from Tokyo and I would really enjoy that :D

@compSciTransfer and @clamfest Since both of you guys were able to find out why you were rejected, I was just wondering who you guys talked to? Do you guys know the name?

@TopHatFlyer Oh dang! Well then, we hope you get in! It’d be cool to meet someone from Tokyo! Good luck getting off the waitlist!
@ricky I knoooow. Waiting all over again. They said it takes 3-4 weeks or maybe a bit sooner, so this is JUST like the start of April again
@Hopey lol yeah I am xD But yeah don’t give up on UCI if it’s your dream school! Find out what the counselor says. Would love to have you go to UCI with everyone else!

@Ellycin I talked to a girl named Diana. The other person I talked to I didn’t get the name because I didn’t ask. I think they’re the sort of students that work in the office, ya know? I don’t think you can talk to the counselors directly. They do it for you when they put you on hold and ask.

@clamfest Yeah the guy I talked to on the phone was cranky. Wouldn’t give me any info. Guess I get to call again. Good luck on your appeal! Your case is really strong.

@ellycin thanks and good luck to you. You all deserve to at least get a hold of someone as easily as I did :P
