@tophatflyer well having someone to speak in japanese would still be nice!

I miss the activeness of this thread
nothing to read about anymore haha

to anybody who has sent in an appeal… how do you know if UCI received your appeal? do they email you or change your status on the admissions thing to reading appeal or something?

Ok, just to share my experience: I was STILL pending as of yesterday early afternoon when I last checked. Got an email overnight saying my status had changed, and I’ve finally been accepted!!! No appeal or anything, I was still pending! After being rejected from UCSD for having “an excess of units”, this is awesome news! Finally!

Anyone attending Discover UCI this friday? I’m pretty excited haha despite how stressed out I am over studying for finals.

@SBVett: Congrats! It’s about time you heard back!!!
@Hopey: Yeah me too, but the rest of us are waiting on appeals or the waitlist
maybe once we get in, we’ll be more active lol
@tristan: I think they would send you an e-mail once they review it that your status has changed. I don’t think they’ll let you know once they received it. Mine got there on May 3rd and I haven’t heard anything :/

@clamfest. Thank you!! This has been an extremely long wait! I hope you hear good news soon!
@abowwow, I’m going to discover Uci! I’ve never been to the campus, so that will be a good opportunity. :)

@SBvett cool hope you like the campus! I’ve been there a couple of times to visit my friends but i dont think i went all around the campus, t’s pretty big.

Looks like the discover UCI event is full. You think they would mind if I just show up? I read in previous years that the RSVP didn’t mean much and some people could just walk and join without checking in.

@Laguna, you should just go and try! If anything there’s the tour at the end that you can always catch if you can’t go to the meeting and you just another reason to walk around campus :)

@SBVett, CONGRATS!!! what the heck took so long?

I’m going to the discover uci event as well. is uci’s parking as bad as other universities?

OK SO
The other day I checked my admissions portal since I was thinking the whole process would be like the admissions thing where they update the portal before the e-mail. I checked maybe about 3-4 days ago and the message is the same.
Now I checked my portal and this is what it looks like now
http://i.imgur.com/ZbCyNc9.png
Anybody else get this message?
I know they received my packet May 3rd and now the portal was updated to say that and that it was updated today, WHICH was the deadline for the appeals. So was it pointless anyway to send my packet earlier? I hope it takes them less time to actually review it than to keep it pending :S

@Clamfest

I hope that info isn’t correct. Are you going to call them and ask them if the portal message is correct? I know you sent your appeal and that today is the deadline for appeals.

I hope you get in :/

@clamfest just checked the admissions portal as well and mine says the same thing so I guess they’re barely going to start reading/reviewing the appeals…

@gamer: I don’t want to be like “YO HURRY UP SINCE IT WAS YOUR FAULT ANYWAY”. It says it’s “pending” so I’m assuming it’s basically saying “we officially received it and now we will begin the review process.” I think I’ll just wait to see what happens…and thanks lol I’m hoping I hear some good news soon
@tristan: ok good I’m not the only one. Hopefully the prioritize the appeals HOPEFULLY on the basis of which ones came in first
Good luck to you on your appeal!

@clamfest thanks and good luck to you as well!! :D

@fkhan, they evaluated syllabus by syllabus for 8 classes I took overseas, and these evaluations were done by different departments, so it took them extra time to determine I had completed prerequisites and all. :)

@SBVett: Wow and they couldn’t do that for me? -_- I was rejected for one class they were unsure about and a simple look at UCSC’s course catalog would have clarified it. Lucky you that you got to avoid this whole appeals process business lol.

@clamfest, that must be frustrating
They requested my syllabi early in April, and I had to wait until the 14th of May to get an answer. I hope it doesn’t take long for you. It probably won’t, since it’s a UC course and only one. I sent in 8 syllabi, haha. Every time I called them to ask why it was past 4/30 and I hadn’t heard anything yet, they were SUPER friendly. I mean, SUPER friendly, almost a “mom” type of friendly and helpful. Stay hopeful and let us know when you hear back! :)

I’m excited for tomorrow! We should all meet up somehow! :)
