UCI Transfer 2014 decisions

Accepted

Major: Biomedical Engineering
GPA: 3.41
Extracurriculars: Vice President of Robotics Society, President of Biomedical Engineering Society
Pre-reqs: All completed

Accepted: UCI
Denied: UCSB, UCSC
Pending: UCD, UCSD

I was a UC to UC transfer, so no IGETC and no TAG

Question:

How hard it is to change major after acceptance?
I TAGed to Irvine and got accepted to computer science and engineering, school of Interdisciplinary Studies!!! However I wanted Engineering school of Irvine!! I made a mistake on my app I guess…I have emailed them already, no answer yet!

Should we apply for housing from now?! I’m waiting for UCSD answer, but if I don’t get in, Irvine is my second choice…Can we apply now, so we make sure we get room, and then cancel?! it is not as if I’m saying I’ll be attending UCI ( SIR ) for sure right?

PS: I just checked my portal and it says " You are not eligible to apply for housing at this time."…disregard the second question then.

@bolandgoo‌

It’s easy. You can change your major by sending a message to your admissions counselors. As long as it’s not impacted and such.

^hopefully they accept it.
what is SLR?
And also, I’ve been accepted, but nothing on financial aid page!! is that because I just updated my FAFSA with my tax return information, or it is like that for everyone?

@Jack0630‌ I got the email notification this morning at like 4:30am lol but I think it probably went up yesterday since it mentioned that “You may have seen your status within the last 24 hours…”

@bolandgoo what is your major currently? The computer science/engineering there is interestingly spread out across the different schools. Take a look at their website if you haven’t already and you’ll see it’s kind of weird.

Accepted (4/18/14, 3:23am PST email sent)
Major: International Studies
GPA: 3.85
IGETC: Yes
TAG: No
Applied: UCSD, UCI, CSUF, UCLA
Rejected:
Accepted: CSUF
Pending: UCSD, UCLA

@ETLspeaker‌ Thanks. It’s kind of weird since i thought the email should be sent simultaneously - -

@justadude91cs:
yeah it’s very confusing!!! There is Donald Bren school which offers multiple degrees(<a href=“undergraduate education @ the bren school of information and computer sciences)…and”>undergraduate education @ the bren school of information and computer sciences)…and then engineering department which offers two degrees!!(<a href=“Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science | The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UC Irvine”>http://www.eng.uci.edu/dept/eecs</a>)
And you know it’s funny, I just checked my main UC Application, and I chose Computer Science and Engineering(engr deptmnt) as my major, but UCI accepted me in school of blah blah…I think even the admission office is confused LOL

Looks like no business admin majors will be admitted this year, haha

@mental2 There were literally 20 transfers accepted last year so they could still be trinkling out or the people who were accepted don’t check college confidential… In my opinion, I feel like there might be a few more coming out in the next batch!

I got an email from UCI saying that they need my Winter 2014 Grades to decide my admittance status. Did no one receive this email? There better be more acceptances.

@dontshweatit did you get the email just now? what time did you get it?

I got it yesterday at around 5:30

Accepted (4/18/14, 3:23am PST email sent)
Major: Chemical Engineering
GPA: 3.69
IGETC: Yes
TAG: No
Rejected:UCSB
Accepted: UCI
Pending: UCSD, UCLA, UCB

Have any math majors been accepted yet?

I’m praying UCI comes out with all the decisions today like DAVIS and SD… Pray it’s also an acceptance. PLEASE GOD, PLEASE.

@transfer14ptl I’m hoping so, too. I mean I am fairly sure I am not getting in but at least I will know. ya know?

@transfer14ptl‌, I called UCI earlier today, and the guy said decisions will continue to come until the end of April

@justadude91cs you never know! don’t lose hope, but yea i completely get it. this is the last school i need to hear from and i just got rejected from SD which happens to be the one i wanted to go to most… so hopefully UCI pulls through.
