UCI -> U of W, Seattle?

Hi everyone, so I'm going to be a second year at UCI but U of W, Seattle has always been my ideal dream school. I applied as a freshman last year and got wait listed and in my ignorance I took the wait list as a denial of admittance and threw the notification away (I know, I'm still kicking my own ass in regret). Don't get me wrong UCI was a VERY close second and I've grown to like it a lot, but I'm a stubborn person and I still want to go to Washington despite the fact that I know transferring is hard socially and expensive as well.

So basically, what do you guys think my chances are of getting into the school as a biology major (premed)? I think I did pretty alright for my first year (bio sci major).. not as good as I hoped since I did slip a bit in my spring quarter but I finished with a 3.42. As for extracurriculars I didn't really do much in terms of landing anything notable. I did have a part time job that ended on bad terms with the management, rushed a couple fraternities, and joined a couple clubs, but besides that not much in terms of leadership. This coming year though I'll be on staff for a newly formed cultural club and am looking at getting a part time job + joining a fraternity / getting volunteer work started.

Do you guys have any numbers or estimates on what my chances are? I've been looking around for them but I haven't really dug up anything substantial. Thanks for any advice / tips I really, really appreciate it!

Hahaha. I’m basically in the opposite position as you, trying to go from UW to either UCI or UCSD. Its pretty rare for people to transfer into UW, and theyre really selective about transfer admissions. Biology isn’t a competitive major there so once you fulfill those EC plans, I think youre good. But if your intentions is to graduate from UW in order to get into UW med school, you might want to rethink it over. UW students dont get priority and you at least need a 4.0 to be considered. Either way, good luck!

Thanks for the reply :slight_smile: Does anyone else have any info on their specific transfer rates for 2009/2010?
