just academically speaking, which one is better or tougher to get in? uci or ucsb?

i love schools with beautiful campus so thats a plus to ucsb, but i heard it has a part-school reputation (can any ucsb students or graduates tell me more about this, i don't mind partying but beiing disturbed doesn't sound too good to me)

more things to consider:
my intended major: film studies/film production.(i am planning to transfer to ucla in my 3rd year though). i know sfsu is top ten in the nation when it comes to film, but im not csu bounded =[ so i guess i have to choose between uci and ucsb. guys i need some advice, please tell me about the pros and cons of these schools; reviews from current students is greatly appreciated ;)

UCSB is ranked a bit higher than UCI but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s harder to get into. I was rejected from UCI but accepted to UCSB. I think what we learned this year is that there’s no way of predicting whether or not you’ll get into a UC even if you think you’re overqualified. I don’t know much about film studies, but overall ranking wise - UCSB is higher.

I think UCSB does have a party school reputation but I don’t think you have to worry about being constantly interrupted/disturbed. There’s a reason it’s ranked high and you’ll find plenty of students interested in studying.

I heard that ucsb’s film study is more analytical than hands on practice, idk if this’s true but if it is then i probably have to reconsider. Is there any ways i can talk to a ucsb/uci film student to learn more about the program??

Ive been accepted to SFSU into the BECA program aka Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts. Which im really excited but I am also in the SAME boat as you. However, I am still waiting to hear from UCSB and UCI (kill me…i hate this wait). I think if i got accepted to UCSB I would go there. I would also be a film and media studies major. I just think it has the better college atmosphere and prestige, although though sfsu is pretty a pretty close runner up since its so well known. But honestly I think UCSb would be a great choice… jusss sayyinn.
