I also got accepted into Gtech in Biomedical Engineering, but I plan to switch into Civil or Electrical or something if I do go there, and I hear it's relatively easy to switch between majors at Gtech.

Now, what I'm wondering is that is it worth paying the 21k+ OOS tuition to go all the way to Gtech vs. the 7k tuition for the UC's for the Engineering education? I know Gtech is one of the best Engineering schools in the country, but the UC's aren't too bad as well. I know UCSB has a strong Chem E department...

I really want to go to Gtech but I don't know if it's worth all the money, and I'd also have to factor in the fact that I wouldn't be able to go home that much, etc etc.

unless you happen to be rich, going to Georgia Tech/GT/GaTech (i’m assuming that’s what you mean) isn’t really a smart decision, unless they give you lots of scholarships and/or grants. if you really don’t think any of those UCs can give you the engineering education you’re looking for, you can always try transferring into a more highly-regarded school later.

So you’re saying those UCs can give me a strong enough education in engineering, and that it pretty much isn’t worth going to GT (yeah I meant Georgia Tech)?

I know GT is more highly regarded, but would going to those UCs limit my ability to get a job, etc after Undergrad?

Anyway, sticking with UC your choice is really between majors and not schools. I think any of those schools would be good, and any of those majors; dependent on what you want to do.
