UCI v UCD v UIUC v AU

Hello!

I’m a little stuck on which university to choose. I am going to be an undergrad and a political science major and I can not choose between UCI, UCD, UIUC, and AU. All of them have their appeals which makes it really hard to choose.

I love UCI’s location since I enjoy being close to bigger cities and warmer climates but I don’t know if they have the best program out of the bunch. I heard that UCD and UIUC both have great poly sci programs. UCD is close to Sacramento but Davis isn’t really the ideal place for me. UIUC is close to home but it’s not in the best location either. AU is in Washington DC which is amazing but I don’t know if it is as good of a university as the rest.

Thanks for listening to my mini-rant. Any advice or help would be amazing. I am currently leaving money out of this since I will be looking at that aspect later.

Irvine!! Come out for the warm weather and beaches. And us CA taxpayer love the OOS students and the $100K apiece they bring to the UC schools in tuition.

Davis is a true college town. Irvine has a lot of commuters.

UIUC is in a lively college town, has a great reputation, and a great polysci program!

With respect to strength in your intended major, American merits strong consideration.

@AnnLynn20 , this is probably after the fact as I’m sure you’ve made your decision, but for political science, you can’t beat American. I’m an alumni and happy to answer any questions if you’re still working on your decision. The UC’s are fantastic, so if you’re in-state, it’s hard to beat them too. Good luck and enjoy your college time!
