UCI v UCSB Computer Engineering

Hello,

I was admitted into both UCI and UCSB (UCI for Computer Science and Engineering and UCSB for Computer Engineering) and I'm getting conflicting reports as to which college is ultimately better for my major. I've visited both campuses (UCI is 10 minutes away) and I do like both of them, but UCSB was a bit better to me. I'm focused on my academics, but I also wouldn't mind a party occasionally. Cost-wise they're both the same.

Thanks in advance for all the input!

Go to UCSB if UCI is too close for you. But I did hear last year that it’s hard to change major at UCSB because it has a small engineering program.

I would go for what I see as the better college experience at UCSB and the chance to be a bit away from home in a pretty environment. But both are really solid.

That’s because there is no real difference. Academically these are practically twins. Class size, advising system, strength of the students, you name it and if you were blindfolded and put in one or the other you couldn’t tell which was which. The difference in your future is going to depend on your grades, participation in student projects, and taking part in internships.
