i'm really indecisive right now so i'll need your help. i was wondering how much easier would my life be if i were to attend i ( i'm majoring in bio , hoping to attend medical school ). Is there a higher rate of students that sucessfully get into med school in one school than the other? any other reasons why you think I should choose one school over another please please please tell me

Over Cornell, Imperial College London, Toronto.

UCSD >> UCLA in Engineering

oops wrong thread

I say go to UCSD, it's a very good school for anything bio-related.

if i get into UCSD through appeal, then i'll have to deal with this problem too.
for me, the problem choosing between the 2 of them is that many of my really close friends will be at UCI. (plus i know a few jackasses at my school going to UCSD)
but UCI is only 15 minutes away from home. and la jolla is beautiful. i think location-wise, i'd choose UCSD.
academics-wise, UCSD is ranked higher. but UCI's bio program is reeally competitive as well.
UCI kids have way more school spirit than UCSD kids do. i've never been able to figure out why. its just the way it is. it may have something to do with the 6 separate colleges that SD has. maybe it creates a sort of distance between the different colleges.
but i may be biased because i've been leaning towards UCI due to the fact that i'm still in that waiting phase for UCSD.

UCSD all the way!

Posting this in the UCSD forum is going to get you some biased answers. Both schools are very good, but if you're pre-med I would definitely tell you to go to UCSD over UCI.

yes ...so true, but in the UCI one no one has responded. lol

Hey! I have the same problem as you and its already the 27th!

Im actually leaning a little towards irvine right now. It's not as competitive as ucsd and since im going to grad school, high grades at irvine beat out low grades at sd. The atmosphere at irvine is more relaxed and just suits me better. But everyone is different, kids at ucsd are just too smart for me. lol

don't assume you'll have a higher GPA at Irvine! That's a bit arrogant. Sure, it's very presumable that UCI might be a lot easier, but there's no guarantee whatsoever. Who knows if SD might be an easier school for you and your major? It kind of bothers me to see people basing their decisions on the unverified idea that a certain school is easier to get a higher GPA than another.

Of course. Im not gonna kid myself and say that my gpa will be higher by .6 or anything. Itll probably be more like .1 or so. The main factor swaying me towards Irvine is the chill environment and the sense of unity plus the awesome gym. I think i would excell where students arent constantly comparing each other.

I think you should mostly look forward to Lee's Sandwiches.

LOL. yes ive seen the lee's sandwiches... its huge and right across campus.

but TMC dining hall > lee's sandwiches

Wrong. Lee's sandwiches is godlike.

^^ Lee's is gross. There are better Vietnamese sandwiches elsewhere, though I haven't been in Irvine long enough to gauge the restaurants. I'd say mom and pop places are pretty good.

Lee's > All.

Uh, Take UCSD, really because I found the SD environment better than Irvine. It's very close to the beaches, and if you get stuck with too much work and study, why not take a take by the beaches and clear your mind, well, that's what I do. But yeah, when it's Bio, SD > ALL

Even go tell Cal Berkeley and UCLA to shove it, SD pwns all the way in Bio

i suggest you visit both campuses and get a feel for the atmosphere. I was undecided between UCI and SD but after visiting campuses i realized that UCSD was a much better match for me (partially due to my personality). since they both have good bio programs then you should probably choose the one you feel more connected to and comfortable.

okay its the 29th and im confused like hell. im majoring in bio at both schools but i only saw ucsd's campus. i thought it was beautiful and all, but i didnt fall in love with it cus of how its so spread out. and ive heard that uci is much more close knit. academically, im quite scared that ucsd's workload will be too crazy to handle. im the type of person who doesnt really work that hard, but manages to get by (at least in high school). so UGH, i dont know what to do .

Haha, I don't think you'll be able to just 'squeeze by' as a bio major. GL with that.
