Right now I am deciding between a couple colleges for the major of computer science.
I got into: UCI, Cal Poly Pomona Honors, UCR, UCSB, and SJSU
Out of those options I think I narrowed it down between UCI and Cal Poly Pomona but I’m still not sure.
Fortunately I made it into the Pomona Honors program but I don’t know if that means much.
Which one do you think will give me a better college experience?
Which one do you think will give me more opportunities?
I am looking to try doing something with business as well so I was considering Business Information Management. Has anyone heard good things from that?
UCI program is pretty good from what I hear but Honors from CPP isn’t bad either. At the end it just comes down to which school you like better. Visit the campus and decide which one you like better
I think you’ll get about the same college experience at either. I’d lean towards Cal Poly Pomona if you’re looking to get into a job right away after college, but I’d go with UC Irvine if you’re planning on going down the academic route.
Don’t go with a business degree. People with business degrees are a dime a dozen and computer science at the moment is quite a hot field right now and projected to be well into the future. I didn’t major in computer science at Cal Poly Pomona, but I am a software engineer. I just received a 44% raise a couple months ago. It’s kind of funny that most math majors become software engineers after college. The pay is decent even at this small company I work at. If you play your cards right, you should get a 20% raise when you job hop.
