UCI vs. CSULB

I'm having a hard time deciding between UC Irvine and Cal State Long Beach. I will be a Chicano Studies major with a minor in Film. I know CSULB is actually harder to get into than UCI, but one of the things that attracts me is the fact that its a UC and a "public ivy". I am very excited about the extracurriculars at both schools because they both have a lot to offer. I am planning on visiting both schools. UCI will have its open house in 3 weeks, and CSULB in 4. I know I'll probably make up my mind once I visit, but can someone please help me??? Also, does anyone know which school has a better social environment?

UCI is a good humanities school but not superbly known for it.

CSULB is pretty darn good school for practical majors......ummm, I can tell u that UCI has awesome extracurriculars and both are pretty liberal

Oh that's great to know. I assumed UCI would be conservative because the OC has that reputation. But great to know it's liberal.

^ what do u want to know about UCI?
I can tell u I've been accepted to both UCI and CSULB and I'm chosing UCI for their drama program.

But there are certain departments of CSULB where they beat UCI like music.

CSULB is also cheaper, but if money isn't an issue, UCI is the way to go.

Visit both, ask about the areas/field of studies u want to attend from each school. Learn about their social scene and activities, and when ur at UCI visit the ARC... it's a super bomb sports center which in my opinion is better than CSULB's pyramid thing

I say UCI.
