UCI vs. SDSU

Where would you go? I know UCI's academics are better, but if you are choosing a business major would that change your mind?

Are those your only two options?

I don't think UCI has a business major...and ultimately, you need to go to a school that offers something you are interested in. However, I don't know is SDSU is the best route to go academically.

Have you considered Cal Poly Pomona or SLO? Other UCs have good business stuff too...UCB (not sure if it's in your league) is top notch, and UCSC seems to have something good going too.

UCI is offering Business Economics this year (It offers the accounting minor and management minor under the paul merage business school). People know that UCI grads are generally smarter than SDSU grads. If you want to do finance or accounting, UCI will give you what you need. UCI's business shcool is well respected in southern California for its emphasis in technology.

I would consider Cal Poly SLO as an alternative to UCI, especially if you want to pursue nonfinancial jobs such as marketing, advertising or sales.

For accounting, finance or management type jobs I would definitely choose SDSU. If you want to study theory/economics and would prefer to take the grad school route, UCI would probably be a better choice. UCI grads have been much smarter in the past, but be on the lookout by the time a freshmen is graduating at SDSU. The academic standards and class of students has been definitely on the rise as of late. 58,000 apps, 40 perc. acceptance rate. 3.6 gpa and 1100 SAT (although i'm sure UCI is a bit better, I would just hope some people would stop accounting SDSU grads as less intelligent than a UCI grad). But back on subject, in all honesty, I don't think it matters that much. The questions I would ask myself are:

Would I like to go to grad school, which would be a better academic environment more condusive to studying and not partying (answer: UCI)?

Would I like to work right out of college, than maybe go to a grad school (A:SDSU)?

What specific type of business would I like to go into (A:depends)?

Just ask yourself questions similiar to these and you should be on your way.
