Which school is preferred for Computer Science? I got admitted to UCI as an Information and Computer Science, Undeclared major at Donald Bren school of ICS and UCSC as a CS: Game Design major at Jack Baskin School of Engineering. I live in NorCal about two hours away from UCSC and I would like to live close to home as possible. Yet, I would like to be in a campus with majority of Asians, like myself. Any suggestions?

the Graduate programs for computer science in the UC’s are ranked as follows

1.UCB
2.UCLA
3.UCSD
4.UCI
5.UCD
6.UCSB
7.UCSC
8.UCR

I am in the same situation. I am from the bay area so I am thinking Irvine would be better because it is farther away. I’m still trying to decide between Irvine (computer game science), Santa Cruz (undeclared computer science), UCSB (Computer Science), and Davis (Computer Science). Has anyone gone to any of these four schools and liked/disliked the CS programs?

To add on to the original question, to current UCI CS majors, how is the work load? I also have no experience in computer language, programming etc… would I fail miserably? And how are the job opportunities for graduates? Being that UCI is the only UC with a school specifically for CS is it one of the best programs compared to other UC’s?
