<p>academically it's not really a contest.</p>
<p>in terms of overall rank, UCI is ranked 44th in the nation; UCSC is ranked 76th according to USNews.</p>
<p>in addition, UCI has one of the best bio programs in the uc system.</p>
<p>i'll allow current students to elaborate. i'm just talking from a soon-to-be student point of view.</p>
<p>UCI is higher in top college ranking than UCSC. Maybe you should also visit both schools to compare.</p>
