UCI vs UCSD need help

hello guys,

So I'm accepted to both UCSD and UCi, rejected from UCLA, and probably Berkeley so these are the 2 schools i'm contemplating. I'll list pros and cons of each. I want to major in electrical engineering.

UCI
+ live at home, save $
+ good engineering program
+ convenient for my parents, they want me to go there

less prestigious

the students there seem like they don't do much besides gaming/studying, which is still okay for me it doesn't affect me as much

UCSD
+ great engineering program
+ more prestige

live at dorm, which i'm slightly concerned about having a bad roomate and stuff

cost more
-I have to attend Revelle, which I heard has the most GE requirements, which means it'll take me longer to graduate. I also really hate history and English and humanity classes. I'm trying to transfer to Warren, but I heard it's really hard

one more thing. I'm not as concerned about finding a job after graduating because my dad is an electrical engineer and I think he will try to get me a job at the place where he works. I might get a master degree a few years after working, I don't know yet. Right now I like UCI because it's just more convenient, less stressful. But i'm worried that the program is not as great as UCSD, and I'm afraid the less prestige name could affect me later on or something. What I really want to know is if the engineering program at UCI is great or not? how is it compared to Cal Poly SLO?

Also, is the UCSD engineering program worth it? i'd have to take extra GE classes like History and Humanity and I really hate those subjects. I don't have alot of AP credits, only passed 3-4 exams. So it'll take me longer to graduate, cost more money. But I like the UCSD name and I think it could help me later on.

Can anyone who have or is attending 1 of these 2 college give me some advice?

Your dad cannot get a job for you unless he owns the company. It’s still illegal if you are not more qualified for the job than other applicants. Many companies don’t allow family members to work together in the same department to avoid favoritism. Furthermore you don’t really want to work in the same place with your dad. You will be in an awkward situation.

oh hes just a reference, which helps me land a job easier. Usually its impossible to find a good job without knowing anyone who works in the company, unless if you’re applying for a small designing company. Plus by the time i graduate, he’d be near his retirement age so i might not even work with him at all. anyways the main thing is the engineering program at UCSD and UCI, not my dad.
