Transfer Waitlist is different than Freshman waitlist, however if Ms. Sun’s blog is true, then UCI was tentatively not taking anyone off the transfer waitlist. My transfer center has told me that in the past UCI has accepted people off the transfer waitlist, so there is a small amount of hope. I do hope you SIR’d to another school if you got accepted though. I’m a Sociology major. The UCI rep I talked to said that out of the Transfers that got accepted, about 50% will SIR. Then if there’s space available, they will usually take everyone off the waitlist or none at all. 1500 students were waitlisted and the UCI rep says usually only 50% will SIP. So two factors are critical in our chances of getting in:
The number of Transfer SIR’s. I.E. if it goes past the expected amount, we’re screwed.
The number of freshman accepted 2 years ago that would be 3rd years “like us”. We would be a part of their class so if their class is full, then our chances are definitely low.

@mtran60 yea I sir to csulb but I badly want to go to uci…i just hope I get accepted I mean if you think about it people that got accepted to uci most likely got accepted to ucla, ucsd, Berkeley, ucsb I would think they would choose those schools before uci ofcourse its my hypothetical thinking to keep me sane

I was wondering, for those who are freshmans that were waitlisted, did you find out if you got in or not exactly at 12 on the 15th? Like does it release once it was the 15th on the dot?

i got accepted on june 4, and was given the deadline june 6 to accept their admission decision…only three days to decide. Since i missed the SIR deadline I am thinking of appealing …i hope they accept, i really would like to go there. @lerena how many days were you given to decide?

@ChemSRCT I got accepted on the 3rd and had three days to SIR. I missed it as welll thinking they were going to reply closer to the 15th and I was so busy I didn’t check my emails. I submitted a “late sir appeal” I hope I get in… Did you submit an appeal?

@arsenal13
I know this was years ago but don’t feel too bad! You might have found out already but the way colleges work, especially with the UC system, is they look at your stats (grades, scores, etc) and the colleges that you applied to. So with UCI, a middle tier UC, they saw how high your grades and scores were, and seeing that you applied to all those higher-ranked, prestigious colleges, denied you admission, assuming that you’d go anywhere but there instead. Because if you were admitted but you rejected them, that would hurt their admittance/acceptance stats, so they just decide to not take the chance.
