UCI waitlist?!

What does it say on your status when you log on to uci net login? Mine still shows the thing about being on waitlist

This message is for gnotsd: Cool… What are the chances that the waitlist will be used? How many are in that waitlist?

@karlarc

Not sure exactly how many are on the waitlist, but I hear most UCs keep 10% of the number of applications they received on the waitlist, but this could be different since I heard Davis waitlisted a lot of people this year (~6000).

Two years ago everyone on the waitlist was admitted.
Last year nobody made it due to over-enrollment.

UCSD and UCD already came out :frowning: Just waiting on you, Irvine! :(

mine still shows the waitlist page too
but i got into UCSD today! :D

Congrats toosie! I also got into UCSD and UCD off the waitlist  But my top choice is Irvine  The environment seems to suit me the most and I think I will be happiest there!

Hope slowly dwindling

Does any know if UCI gives priority to applicants who have had a sibling attend?

@rody1285: I don’t think so. I remember wondering this because my brother is a Cal alumni but then when I asked people, they said legacy doesn’t count. I think it makes sense too. It tends to show up more in privates, especially Ivy Leagues.

CalPoly, UCSB and UCI for Computer Science or Engineering… which one is better?

@gnotsd how/why are you so sure waitlisted people will be notified ON the 15th? On the admission’s page, it says “We will notify you by May 15, 2011, regarding your admission status. At the same time, we caution you to not miss the deadlines at other colleges/universities while waiting to receive our waitlist decision.”, which mean we could be notified earlier than the 15th.

Has anyone heard back yet who is on the wait list?

I called them today and they said not to be too hopeful about getting in from the waitlist…

Aw man… That’s just a nicer way of saying that were not getting in. gg

yeah I kinda lost hope for Irvine :frowning: sigh

Noo… can’t loose hope yet!

SB’s waitlist decisions came out today and no one got in. So, not sure how Irvine will turn out but it doesn’t look too good…

UCI also rejected a lot of people today, as well as put a ton of the transfer waitlist. Pretty sure it’s different from freshman, but yeah…Also think this is the 1st year they’re utilizing a waitlist for transfers.

So if I’m a transfer student who has been waitlisted there is no chance of admission?

do they accept waitlisted people according to major, or is it a general transfer population?
