For those of you who have signed a TAG for UCI, can you explain how their TAG process works? I've asked my CC counselors and unfortunately they do not know much about it. They keep insisting that the budget cuts are going to prevent a lot of schools from admitting new students, and that TAGs are ONLY for Fall semester. I'd really like to know exactly what you had to do to complete the TAG process for UCI. I live in NorCal, so I assume I would have to arrange a meeting with a UCI rep? I'm planning on applying for Winter 2010 quarter, if it is open. Thanks =]

Your counselor is absolutely right. UCs only accept students in fall quarter from now on

I talked to one of the counselors from UCI…and she said she is not sure if they will admit students for the winter quarter. I was going to deny my sir from ucr to go to uci this winter quarter, but im not sure its a wise decision now.

same boat here. i was accepted to ucm for fall. i was going to deny my sir there and do a winter transfer to a more prestigious uc (i refuse to use the term better). however yesterday i just said f it and i paied the 100 to ucm. everyday i become less convinced that uc’s will have winter transfers this time around.

just deposit your sir to ucr. what im going to do is, in june, (after the sir deadline) if a good number of uc’s are accepting winter transfers, ill just email ucm and tell them to reject my sir, and ill go back to ccc and shoot for a winter transfer

its the safest thing to do. just deposit your sir now, the worst thing that can happen is

a. you go to ucr instead of your dream school
b. you lose 100$, and go to your dream school eventually

you choose which is worse :)

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind taking that risk, but dude I just visited riverside yesterday. What a horrible place to live…it is like so damn depressing dude. campus is legit and looks nice, but 10 feet away from the campus is a whole different view.

anways, I talked to uci counselor, and she said that she is not sure if they will have winter sessions. How and when will we know if they will be accepting winter apps for sure??

I just talked to an advisor at my CC’s transfer center and she gave me the contact info for our school’s UCI contact person. She told me to contact her the first week in June, and they will know if Winter Quarter will be open. Since the Statement of Intent to Register for Fall 09 admits is due June 1st, they will have an idea of how many students will be attending, and I guess that will effect whether or not they can open Winter Quarter. =P

all uc’s will know, after the june 1, sir deadline. because then they will know for sure how many students are ACTUALLY coming to the uc, then from there they can see all the empyt spots they have left from people they admitted but chose to go somewhere else.

i doubt they will tell u on june 2, though, it will probably be a short while after though
