In the website it says new fall student will be able to activate UCINetID on May 10, 2007. I went in and was able to active my UCINetID. Did anyone else did it?

hmmm what happen after you activate it? are you able register for classes? placement tests? maybe I should just activate it too...

I was able to sign up for the chemistry placement test... but now I am worried that I might mess up something...

I think you will be ok..because on the to do list- it say activate your UCInetID early May (they took it down when they gave me teh email and my UCInetID).

My son activated his UCInetID, but then he couldn't sign up for placement tests. If he entered the testing site as a new student, it wouldn't recognize his ID. If he entered as a regular student, it let him enter, but when he went to sign up, only a few tests showed up for May and early June.

Confident...did you have any problems like this? How did you enter: as a new student for fall, or as a regular student?

Thanks!

My Daughter activated hers too. Student ID not recognized....??????!!!!!!!
She is exempt from the wrting placement, she's trying to register for Spanish and Chem placement.

I entered as regular student and signed up for the test in May. I guess I probably have to cancel and sign up for a later day as new student. I am glad I am not the only one who is too curious to wait...

I thought the one in may is for current students only, you should register as new student

check out the test placement website: http://www.testingoffice.uci.edu/websitecompanion.pdf

Sir. Loinsteak: Thank you for your info. Will cancel the one in May and register when June is available.

The following link says we have to take it in May.

Placement Exams
UC Analytical Writing Placement Exam, May 12, 2007

If you are a freshman student entering UCI in fall quarter, 2007, you must take the UC Analytical Writing Exam on May 12, 2007. Enrollment in any English composition course at UCI is dependent upon the results of this exam, unless UCI has on record by April 1, 2007, that you have met the Analytical Writing requirement through one of the following four options:

You have received a score of 680 or above (or 660 or above for tests taken before May 1998) on the College Board SAT-II Test in English Composition (not Literature); or
You have received a 3, 4, or 5 on either of the two College Board Advanced Placement Examinations in English; or
You have received a score of 5 or above on the International Baccalaureate's (IB) Higher Level English A Examination; or
You have completed a transferable college English composition course with a grade of "C" or better.

yeah that is just for the writing test placement, the other placement tests you can take it during this summer...

i activiated my ucinetID and couldn't access some areas.

i did get to log into my uci email account, however.

i activated my ucinetid but was unable to log into my email account. :[
what is going on here?

To everyone who's complaining about why UCnetID doesn't work:

NOTE: New Fall students will be able to activate their UCInetID on May 10, 2007.

^ thanks for pointing that out, all this talk was gettin me confused

You can activate awhile back and CAN also access email. It just does not work for signing up for "other" placement tests and SPOP.

also, the parent info page is not yet up.

I'm sure it WILL work for signing up on placement exams AFTER May 10th

:)

has anybody successfully signed up for any placement exams? (either by fax, mail, or online???)

also have you guys gotten any packet from uci after the SIR deadline? (for instance, housing contract, and other papers?)

Nope no papers yet.

Successfully activated my UCnetID :)

Can anyone point me to the site with the placement tests?
