UCL vs Claremont McKenna vs McGill

UCL vs Claremont McKenna vs McGill?
Hey guys, I've been accepted to University College London for Law, Claremont Mckenna and McGill Desautels Business. There are pros and cons to each and I can't seem to decide. I just wanted some of your opinions to see what you thought?

University College London

Pros:
-Law is super competitive to get into
-Can get a law degree in just 3 years
-Average of around $30,000 CAD per year including living costs in London.
-I can come back and practice law in Canada in my early 20s
-It's so close to Europe and Paris!

Cons:
-I'm not sure if I'll enjoy law. It's interesting but I'm somehow hesistant
-I'm not overly keen about London. Too much seems to be happening.
-I can't study a couple other subjects I enjoy (like French) and I didn't apply for law with French law

Claremont McKenna

Pros:
-Small liberal Arts College with a traditional "college campus"
-It's in Claremont, a college town, but also half an hour drive from LA
-It's in California with amazing weather
-I can take courses at the other Claremont colleges (CMCs part of a consortium)

Cons:
-It'll cost me an arm and a leg to attend ($60,000 per year)
My parents can afford it but if I can't get any financial aid I'll end up in 240k debt which is a scary thought
-It's not as well known as UCL or McGill
-It takes 4 years to complete the degree

McGill

Pros:
-It's much cheaper for me as a Canadian to attend
-I can do a double major and take Arts courses if I want
-Some of my buds are going there
-I can get a degree in 3 years

Cons:
-Class sizes are huge the first couple of years
-I'm a bit worried about the rigour of the courses and work ethic of students
-The weather in the winter is terrible, it'll definitely affect me one way or another

As for social life, McGill and UCL should be around the same with Claremont McKenna getting an edge.

It’s not well advertised, but it looks like you can take French as part of your degree at UCL [Course Units](Modules | UCL Centre for Languages & International Education (CLIE) - UCL – University College London) - do double check that your own department will allow it, but these are modules that are nominally open to all undergrads.

Definitely ClaremontMckenna - just for the academic quality, it’s a lot higher than the others. Research opportunities etc are another added bonus

I’m not into trashing a University that I have never heard of (which is really my point here)

I’m a graduate of UCL so I can tell you that it’s an elite university in the UK, always in the top 10 and depending on what international league table you read it’s a top ten world university.

So when I read “personal opinion” on academic quality and how one University is better than another it kind of gets me slightly annoyed, what evidence is this opinion based on, the number of nobel laureates the university has produced, the number of world changing medical discoveries, the number academic disciplines that the institution created (archeology, UCL) etc. etc.

So I have not done my research (yet) but I’m prepared to go out on a limb and bet the pecking order might look something like UCL being way ahead. But Claremont McKenna may have some Harry Potter magic associated with it that I don’t yet know about.

Anyone who does not say UCL is the most academic rigorous of the three does not know what they are talking about. UCL is without a doubt top 5 in the UK. UCL has an extremely good reputation around the world. The others - not so much. You’d have to have a very good reason for turning down UCL for those other institutions, especially if they are costing you more?

Hey Vancouverite, I’m from Vancouver, and I currently attend Claremont Mckenna College. I also got admitted into UCL, McGill and CMC, but I was actually more considering between the colleges of Tufts, Berkeley, Mcgill and CMC. TBH, I don’t think I could’ve made a better choice. CMC is awesome in every way possible, and to respond to the previous commentors, the Academics at CMC are stellar. My average class size is around 15 students, and each professor knows my name; on average, I see them between 3-4 times a week, either in class or in office hours. You also get the benefit of the Consortium, which I believe is the greatest part of going to school in Claremont. It’s like having the size, and the resources of a mid-large sized university, yet having the intimacy and comfort of a small liberal arts college. Of course, the name-brand of CMC is not as well known when compared to UCL, Berekely, Tufts or McGill; however, as the saying goes, the RIGHT people know about the calibre of CMC, and job placement after graduation is one of the highest percentages in the country. Nowadays, it is also extremely hard to get into, at around 11.3% in 2013, rated at the lowest admittance rate out of all LACs in the US. Enough preaching, which college did you end up choosing, if you mind me asking? Also, did you go to high school in Vancouver?
