I have a friend studying engineering who’s looking for housing as a 4th year student. He already knows about the lottery for on-campus housing, but what about off-campus housing? What is the usual housing option preferred by other engineering students? I know that there are some apartments primarily for international students and other types of residents, but I want to know which ones are more for STEM/engineering students who need quiet space to study and do homework.
@JohnnySX You would find more answers in one of the UCLA housing Facebook groups. Most apartments are privately owned so he would need to start looking now to lock in a lease. Apartments away from strathmore and Gayley will be quieter. Gayley and strathmore apartments have a lot of students from Greek life and fraternity row is on Gayley so those streets are very loud.
