UCLA AAP event 5/15/2010

It says in the brochure it costs around $5,217 for the program. If your EFC is less than $2,500, they award you $4,967.

Actually, that’s $250. Sweet!

^ yay!!! that is so awesome :)

♥ $250!!! thats so cool.

Where do we make the $50 fee payment? I went to URSA/(BAR) and did not see anything regarding TSP.

I don’t think the fee has populated yet… I tried to pay already too…

What class did you choose?! I hope we get the class we have chosen…

i forgot what class I signed up for. Hope it wasnt binding.

I signed up for the African American studies class. Looks really interesting!

Yay! I’m glad you got in Shawna!^^

By the way, the fees will start to appear tomorrow (so the information they handed out on Saturday says!)

Edit: You can only get a fee waiver for Orientation if your EFC is 0?! What’s up with that? A partial fee waiver if that! :/

That’s nervewrecking for some reason. :/

Which part? Haha.

Lucky Evan! You’re all done with CC! ): I have six more papers (three research papers to finish and one to edit) before June 2nd, life is not great right now…>__<;;

I’m not done until tomorrow! Although my harder finals are out of the way!

I have TWO WEEKS left. So I would take the one day ANYDAY, xD. I’m only taking four classes, but the Honors assignments are super long…grr…well…I’ll just have to look forward to June 2nd!

Until then! <3

Thanks Yunie! Yay I’m so glad…

Hopefully you’ll be there too… :P) surprise surprise! we’ll mysteriously wait…

I know for summer we’ll be living in the dorms? Will we be in a triple? culture shock time! actually chem study time. :-/

ok so I found bruincast last night which will be helpful I am sure. Some professors have their lectures videotaped too… and did you know you can buy past tests ?! how cool is that!

Isn’t that illegal or something? Lol

nope, they have them right there on campus as a student resource. pretty cool.

It’s not illegal unless you get caught.

anybody else get a call from UCLA summer program and get a “congratz” for getting into the AAP TSP program? haha…i got many call from LA before, but this one was kinda unexpected. they sure do call me alot…i must have received around 6-8 phone calls from LA now.

echo! you are just so special!

no it isn’t illegal… I’m pretty sure they sell the old tests in the book store… of course the new tests will be different but the chem professors especially, like to prepare you so you know exactly what is expected of you…

oh, chemistry? That ship has sailed! As of today, actually! Hooray!

Oh my gosh…T__T;; Opera deleted my quick reply…NOT COOL!

…I will edit this…

Edit: The bestie just got off the phone with someone from AAP! (: They talked for twenty minutes, he was pretty loud enough so I got to hear all the conversation! I’ll be sharing the information she recieved, sorry in advance if you know/heard this! Just wanted to make it available!

-Roomates will not be known until the day you move in, due to “legal” issues regarding giving out personal information, whatever that means, haha. The bestie asked if she could know someHOW in advance, claiming that she needed to know who it was because then they would be able to agree what to bring/what not to bring/etc, etc…and he said that she could try to call the director later on in June when the rooming assignments are completed and try to ask. (It was a good point in my opinion!)

-Someone already said this, but you guys will be staying in Rieber Hall.^^ Ususally, you get roomed with two other people, if you’re lucky one other person and if you’re REALLY lucky, you can get a room to yourself. The person she was speaking to got REALLY lucky last summer when he completed the program.

-She asked if you could take a mini-fridge (her parents were besides us and made her ask) and he said yes, of course, and not to worry as there are stores on campus which sell milk and all that stuff…which made her parents happy of course!

I personally loved this one:
-If you get a high enough GPA during TSP, you will get information from UCLA’s Honors Program, inviting you to join. He told her that although he might have completed that writing class in order to complete IGETC in CCC, he didn’t think it was a “do-over” because he learned how to effectively write papers the way the UCs expect you to. Also, he got into Honors, how cool is that?! So beginning in Fall, you will be apart of Honors already.

-You will get information regarding the textbooks that you will need in a couple of weeks before TSP in an email or something of the sort.

Lastly (I might have forgotten a couple of things here and there…keke…):
-They purposely give you this difficult schedule so you can quickly get used to the way the UCs to be doing up to this point. They know its difficult, they know that during your spare time you will be studying/doing work which is why they (so many times) have said that they do not recommend working!

I think that’s it! I really have to go now, finish editing my Spanish paper!!! (:
