<p>oh, but engineers get this email invitation to the open house about 2 weeks earlier.</p>
<p>if you get that engineering email, then you’re basically in.</p>
<p>When I took a campus tour last summer, the guide said UCLA sends a letter to everyone, regardless of whether they got in or not. Meaning that “yes” has a one page letter saying you got in, and “no” has a one page letter saying you didn’t get in.</p>
<p>ok look essentially this is the gist of it, you will get two kinds of letters from the colleges:</p>
<p>1) the ones u get in will come in with big envelopes that includes a booklet that introduces the school and all the other random stuff…oh and a letter congratulating you. in my case i got packets from penn, duke, berkeley, and washU…yes i chose UCLA. </p>
<p>2) the rejection letters are normal letters, in my case it was uchicago. so if you get a regular sized letter from the university when it comes decision time…dont bother open it…because it will more or less say something like:</p>
<p>Dear <name here=“”>,</name></p>
<p>Thank you for your interest in <school name=“” here=“”>, this year we have an exceptionally large pool of qualified applicants. However due to <enter reason=“” here=“”>, we are not able to offer you admission at this time. <enter more=“” ********=“” here=“”> On behalf of the <enter school=“” name=“” here=“”> I thank you again for your interest in the school and wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.</enter></enter></enter></school></p>
<p>Sincerely,
<enter name=“” here=“”>
<something> of admissions</something></enter></p>
<p>
</p>
<p>You should open it. There are a few schools that don’t do big envelopes.</p>
<p>“the rejection letters are normal letters, in my case it was uchicago. so if you get a regular sized letter from the university when it comes decision time…dont bother open it…”</p>
<p>I would definitely open it, often times it will be a wait-list, or it could be a late likely-letter (though UCs do NOT use these), or even financial-aid or scholarship material. It it’s a rejection, well, at least you stared it in the face and didn’t run from it!</p>
<p>what is a “wait-list”?</p>
<p>if those accepted decline the offer, then more spots might open up, and they will start admitting people on the waitlist. but often, you have to respond to be put onto the waitlist.</p>
<p>Though the UC’s don’t have wait lists…</p>
<p>so do UCs have wait-lists yes or no?
OFFICIALLY?</p>
<p>no .</p>
