I just came home from work. So no updates yet huh?

yesssssssss

saba, someone else on this forum helped me figure out the incomplete issue. tell me, did you put “will file” on your fasfa. go check please!

TO PHattie: For me…yes…I’m able to see the document tracking thing
FAFSA RECD FROM CENTRAL PROC Completed 4-17-2009

ok so I called the UCLA financial aid office, and the dude seemed to have very little clue what was going on…I was asking him about the UCLA FA Summary (student/parent contribution), and I said how come some students see it and some don’t…and he says probably because they’re doing things differently o.O …I told him that admissions office told me that only admitted students can see their fafsa processed online …and he said well if admission said that then…it’s probably true…but he had no clue…and so I asked if I could see it if I was admitted, and he was like just wait for your acceptance letter…
then I asked how come some students can see their provisional award…he’s like have they been admitted…and I said not officially…and he seemed confused… but he basically said that if you do see the provisional award, then you’ve been accepted, so congrats to those who saw it…
Finally, I asked if the FA office is still in the process of updating it…and he said yah…
(Basically I don’t think he has a clue) :/

gosh i am so confusedddd!!!

ucb- I dun think that guy knows anything abt it
we can just ignore what that guy said

Does UCLA send us an email if our status has changed or do we need to keep checking the website?

ive been talking it over with another board member, the incomplete status is due to a “will file” posted on the fasfa application. for all those with incomplete, please check ur fasfa now! tell me if this is true, if it is, then the theory still lives!!! if not then iono lol

I feel like the people usually answering the phones in the FA/Admissions offices don’t really know what exactly is going on.

revel- that is in my case as well, i have incomplete and i did put “will file”
at least i think what i’m talking about is what you’re talking about, where should i double check to make sure?

nothing has happened today

to be through how many people put will not file? and see the summary at all?

under the section for your parents taxes there is a droplist box for the status. If you put will file then i think thats why under the document tracking we get:

ESTIMATED TAX STATUS ON FAFSA Not Received

still a theory, but a damn good one lol. this still maintains the financial aid information theory. it wouldn’t make sense for them to download info from rejected applicants, because of the mass amount of applicants 50k+, in doing so would overload any system. (i own an IT business so trust me on this lol)

I just checked my FAFSA and it says that both the student’s and parent’s tax returns have already been filed, but my awards summary finaid status is incomplete…

Also, my document tracking says:
FAFSA RECD FROM CENTRAL PROC Completed 4-24-2009
UCLA VERIFICATION Not Received
Student’s Tax Return Required Not Received
SUBMIT PARENTS TAX FORMS Not Received

Sooooooo I don’t know what this all is supposed to mean. AHHHHH!

yeah I put “will file” on the FAFSA, and updated it recently

Yes, I put “will file” and thus mine says incomplete.

where did you get that info nacho?

In my Student Aid Report on the FAFSA follow-up site:

Step 2: Student Filed 2008 Income Tax Return? ALREADY COMPLETED
Step 4: Parents Filed 2008 Income Tax Return? ALREADY COMPLETED

But my awards summary just got updated today, so maybe that’s why it says incomplete?
