UCLA ADMISSION RESULTS FALL 2018

Hey hey! Admissions are coming in 40 minutes! Post your results here!

Also, head on over to https://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■/15284808 and vote your admissions results!

I am going to post my results but I have a dumb question first (lol I’m not a cs major): do I remove all the brackets?

@hyacinth12 Sorry, I copied the source code from somewhere else, but I think you do remove all the brackets. However, the formatting may be a little off.

Decision: Accepted
Major: Computer Engineering

Objective:
SAT I (Comp, Essay, CR, M, CW): 1430, 6/5/6, 740M, 690CRW

[ /list]

[ b]Other**
[ list]
[ *] State (if domestic applicant): California!

[ *] Income Bracket: Very low (four digits)
[ *] Assets: None except for some income from part-time job
[ *] Property: None other than the house I live with my parents
[ *] Extenuating Circumstances: This. So. Much. My father had a stroke that left him unable to work. My mother recently immigrated to the US with little English knowledge. I had to take care of my father while maintaining a high academic record. This must have moved the adcoms at UCLA.
[ *] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): 1.5th generation college student and low-income family.

Why you think you were accepted/not accepted and general comments: Honestly, I think it’s my personal story and experiences as someone who experience trauma as a young child and various setbacks in the teenage years. Also, my test scores, especially in STEM, signifies that I am ready for the UCLA HSSEAS curriculum.

Why you think you were accepted/not accepted and general comments: I think my test scores definitely helped mask the impact of my relatively low GPA, and I feel I had some pretty unique ECs to share about through my essays.

Advice for future applicants: Sounds cliche but express your true self in the best way you can and don’t worry about any weak spots in your application. I thought my GPA and class rank would basically eliminate me from ever having a chance at being accepted but I thought wrong!
