UCLA admissions evaluator contacting about dropped course

So I was admitted to UCLA's college of letters and sciences. I dropped a second semester ochem class at my community college. that class was not a major pre-req or an igetc requirement or a unit requirement(I have 83 units). I figured that it wouldn't affect my admission so I submitted this change online on their admissions page. that was back on April 23 and today is may 8. I call them and they keep saying we are backed up, give us a minimum of 15 working days. Should I be worried? Is anyone else on the same boat and is still waiting to hear back?

A minimum of 15 days??! I thought it was 15 days at the most?

Yes, I am in the same situation. I reported changes on the 20th and since then my acceptance letter was taken off line. I am worried because other people reported changes and heard back days later.

The changes, I felt, were minor but now as the days keep going by I am starting to overthink…
I just visited the campus this weekend and I am officially in love =/ I hope they are just backed up as you said and this is in no way a sign.

oh yikes you’re still waiting too? do mind telling me what your changes were?

I got off the phone with the admissions office about an hour ago and she asked me for my ID number. Basically she said, “I am surprised you haven’t heard back yet. we are backed up here but I just emailed your evaluator telling her to get in touch with you. you should hear from her in a day or two.”

so I’m guessing they forgot about us or something? I’ve been over-thinking it too because I already submitted my SIR. I would think they would be a little considerate of that but oh well. I guess we just wait:/

I wouldn’t worry, I’ve been waiting for a response on my dropped badminton class for a couple weeks and I don’t really think that will affect my admission status. It’s easy to get freaked out over every little thing until our admission is final, lord knows I’ve been worrying much more now than before I was accepted!

oh really? a badminton class? wow they really should respond to situations like this sooner because it’s pointless stress for us. and yes tell me about it! before I got my acceptance I never thought about it and now? all I do is stress. well good luck to us all:)

I updated the TAU and emailed ucla in March about a random class I couldn’t add, now that I’ve been admitted do i have to contact them again about this class?

hmm I don’t think you have to because this was before ucla sent out its
transfer decisions. but to be safe, you should call admissions and find out. they are available Monday-Friday 1-4. the number is 310-825-3101

btw those of you who are still waiting to here back,
I finally heard back today from my evaluator and she said I am good to go. But this was only because I kept calling admissions and told them to email my evaluator. So do that! call them
and don’t take no for an answer.

I actually got a response today as well. I am good.

I summited mine on 4/27/2012. i haven’t heard back yet. IM SOOOOO WORRIED!!!

what was your situation that you submitted? You should call them and ask them to email
your evaluator. that’s what the admissions advisor did for me and I heard back like the next day

I though they where extremely fast, submitted mine on April 23, received a response on April 30, so about a week, but then again it was a non major, or required art class. My friend submitted his on the same day and got his response just this week and they took back his admissions, but his was major course.

I dropped an engineering class, but it’s not the required class on Assist.org.
I already called the admission office two times and they said i need to wait.

@Ocscout

So your friend got rescinded? Can you provide more details.

I don’t want to get into to many details, the class he dropped wasn’t a major pre-req to transfer but was a class for his major. All in all call before you drop anything

they don’t give u advice on dropping or not dropping. trust me I tried allll of that before officially submitting my change. when I called them, they kept saying we can’t give your a “what if” theoretical scenario. in my case though, I think it took so long was because they kinda forgot about me. that’s what the admissions advisor sounded like. so all in all, just because they are taking long, doesn’t mean your admission will be rescinded. my class was a pretty big class, an ochem class but it wasnt a major prerep or anything so my admission wasn’t rescinded. just keep calling till someone will help you and email
your evaluator. I had to wait over 2 weeks before I heard back.

@Ocscout

Oh ok. Interesting…

im so relieved! i heard back from my evaluator today. Thank you guys! you’re really helpful
