UCLA admissions statistics for Transfer Fall 2007

Uh, avg units 100-120? Errr....I thought you only needed to complete 60 for transfer...This scares me as I am a future transfer stufdent.

they are talking about 100-120 quarter units. You only need 60 semester units.

Oh phew. You guys scared me.

hi, im going to UCI but am thinking of transferring. Do any of you guys know how hard UC's are in comparison to community colleges? i took some cc courses so i want to judge how much harder it may be to get the necessary GPA to transfer. thanks

oh great. they only accepted 42% of my major (french) and the avg. admit GPA was a 3.5. and i have a 3.45 but the people that i know from my campus who got into UCLA under french were in scholars/TAP, which i didn't do because i didn't expect to be spending an extra year at my CCC. kudos, me.

ksbr27- I think you're still fine given it is a 42% acceptance rate.

Ok, so I asked UCB about it and here's my two replies:

"I don’t think we have the same kind of information up on a UC Berkeley site like what you’ve shown on the UCLA site. There is another office on campus, the Office of Student Research, that does compile some information on transfers and admissions data. Here’s a url to one aspect of their website that might give you information that could help

https://osr2.berkeley.edu/menu_control/Topics/student_data/institutional_data.phtml

Or you can contact their office directly to see what other options they might have."

"UC’s Office of the President has a new site that should have most of what you need: University of California: StatFinder. There are some predefined tables under the “Tables Library” tab there, or you can create your own under the “StatFinder” tab.

I’ll also look around a little more and see if I can find some additional data for you."

Ok, so it's now someone else's turn to contact the Office of Student Research and ask them if they have something like UCLA transfer stats

Nice find alansda. I already knew about the stat finder but the first link is pretty useful. However now I am freaking out because only 7 transfer students were admitted to my major.

alansda, thanks for that!

and thanks women.of.troy. i'd much prefer going to USC (as you well know!) but my backup is UCLA and i only applied to UCB/UCSB on a whim, so i'm getting nervous i won't end up anywhere.

I meant only 7 transfers for my major at Berkeley.

geez...what's your major thedude44?!

heh, 38 for my major.

My major is Classical Civilizations. I don't think very many people apply to the major but it is still weird to think that only 7 people were admitted to Berkeley in my major. At UCLA 18 people applied to Classical Civilizations and 8 got accepted. I am nervous because there are no prerequisites that you can complete for that major at a CC. However I applied to UCLA and UCSD as a history major.

History major is fairly easy to get in i heard..

It is fairly easy to get into even though it has an average GPA admit rate of 3.53 which is only .03 less than poli sci. I have a 3.9 GPA and all the major prerequisites complete (and more) for history, an A in all prerequisites, good ECs and I am TAP certified. So I think I have a pretty good chance but I am still really nervous about getting accepted to UCLA.

But my number one is getting into CAL so I am crossing my fingers.

yah.... dont worry about it.... UCLA in for sure... UCB very good chance gluck!! Hopefully i'll c u at Cal!
