UCLA Admits--Maintaining Grades Clarification

Okay, so I think we have all been upset and confused with the whole ** maintain your gpa ** crap, and wondering if our gpa drops just a little bit if we are going to be rescinded.

The website has been updated for you to report changes, and what it says to report offers a little clarification to me, and thought it would be helpful.

"**Use this form if you drop or change any of the courses you indicated on your application, or if you receive poor grades (Ds, Fs, 3 or more Cs) in any of your fall or spring term courses.

Use this form if:
a) You dropped any courses which were listed on your application.
b) You changed any courses which were listed on your application.
c) You received poor grades (Ds or Fs) in any of your 2009/10 courses.
d) Your current GPA is significantly lower than the GPA with which you were admitted.
e) You fail to meet the provisions of your admission contract.

Do not use this form to report hypothetical scenarios/situations:
a) DO NOT report courses you might drop.
b) DO NOT report changes you might make.
c) DO NOT report grades you might receive. **

this is the first case I have seen them mention C grades, which I have personally been most worried about. I thought I might get rescinded for 1 C, but here it says you should report D's, F's, and 3 or more C's. Hope this helped some of you

omg what a badass link! thank you so much Eshug1  :)

great post!

no problem! it definitely eases my mind because I might get a C in one of my courses :)

THANK YOU OTHER EVAN! Alright, looks like I’m good ;)

haha yeah everyone is gonna read this and be like “AHHH OKAY thank god” I think the 3.0 and no grade lower than C is a good plan to live by for spring semester

Team Evan, FTW! ha ha ha ha :D

Should I report the case if i gonna drop my gpa in any amount?
what is a significant amount of drop?

OMG thank you so much evan. 3 Cs!! DID YOU HEAR THAT YALL?! 3Cs!! I’m safeeee
I was holding off SIRing to ucla because of this. evan, you da man

Awesome! Great find Eshug1  Now all we have to clear up is exactly how much lower is “significantly lower”… Haha!

significantly lower mean .5 away from the GPA when you admitted. i called and ask

^ and that’s semester GPA, not cumulative, right?

Edit: I just plugged in worst case scenario grades into a GPA calculator online- There is no way I’d drop .5 points (without crashing and burning entirely)! Hooray! :)

i think that means cumulative. I hope. lol

it mean this semester GPA cant be .5 away from your accumlated GPA when you got admitted

well… i might in a danergous place becux i applied for Biz Econ with GPA 3.9… but this semester… the max GPA i could get is 3.5 due to an B in my multivariable calculus (5 unit) which is not required but just taking it for fun… now i found out it is not fun at all… even it might be the reason i got rescinde…

yeah i dont know how much i believe the .5—There is no way that they would rescind you if you have a 3.9 and you get a 3.5 or 3.4 making ur cumulative gpa like 3.8. Highly doubt that

i had no idea… but all i can do now is to work extra hard on my multivariable calculus class and try to stay focux on school work.

I have 54 units right now and I’m taking 4 classes for a total of 19 units, no way the GPA’s dropping by 0.5 even if I get 4 B’s for all. Hopefully the 0.5 drop guideline applies to cumulative.

To calculate fall '09 cumulative + spring '10 hypothetical, use: [UW-Marinette: Academics: GPA Calculator](http://www.marinette.uwc.edu/academics/gpa.htm)

amazing man, I was worried about my calc and chem classes, now i feel much better

Still goin for A’s though!

^SAME. Must finish strong! Let’s go teammm hahaha

nonon, i mean its current semester GPA the .5 away from the GPA when you admitted. i m not saying the .5 that affected your accumulated GPA
so it is basically like when you applied to UCLA, u have a accumulated GPA 3.8, however, if you doing not too well and end up with a 3.2… basically this is consider as a significant drop and UCLA might take a consideration of rescind your admission

Yeah, I doubt that. but its not worth risking. What if you are only taking one class and you get a B in it. 3.0–significant drop?
