UCLA Aerospace vs UMich Aerospace

Can anyone comment on the programs at both of these schools.

UCLA's Aerospace engineering is ranked higher than Berkeley's (according to the ginormous engineering sticky's rankings) at 12th, although Ann Arbor's is around 4th. If you're looking for a "better" school, I would suggest Ann Arbor.

However, I think that, given UCLA's location in SoCal, you would probably have a much easier time finding a job. I'm unaware of the condition of manufacturing in Michigan (other than cars) but I would say that, at least California in general, will be a tremendous asset when out of college.

well, michigan has one the of the best aerospace programs in the country...period. and also, i dont believe job placement with michigan is hard...in the least bit. not to put UCLA down or anything, but michigan also has one of the country's best engineering programs (ranked in top 5 or 6 i think), which is quite a few ranks higher than UCLA if i remember correctly. michigan also has the name of Ross business school associated with it to boot. i can pretty much assure you you wont have any problem at all finding a job as a michigan grad, but you also wont have a problem finding a job as a UCLA grad. i would choose the school you like better, instead of making a strictly program ranking based decision :)

its not like you are going to look for a job in ann arbor anyway, are you? you look for a job in the place you want to live. its the name of the school thatll get you the job, thus job placement isnt a problem. also, michigan is very highly recruited.

UCLA is located close to the aerospace and defense industry. Michigan, not so much.

UCLA sees the sun more often : ) and has Kevin love : D
