UCLA Alternate Major

If I don’t get accepted as a freshman into UCLA’s undergraduate nursing program, would they accept/consider me for my alternate major (Korean)?

EDIT: Also meaning, do I get accepted into UCLA first and then they look at my first-choice major, or do they look at the major first before making the decision?

The answer is the same as in your other discussion. No as a Nursing major, UCLA will not consider an alternate major.

From UCLA website:
Q: IF I AM NOT ADMITTED UNDER MY FIRST CHOICE MAJOR, WILL UCLA REVIEW ME FOR MY ALTERNATE MAJOR?
A: Within the College of Letters and Science, the major an applicant chooses is not a factor in the review process at the freshman level. Otherwise, we guarantee review of first-choice majors only.

UCLA does not normally consider the alternate choices of applicants who applied to majors in the other schools (Engineering, Arts, Nursing etc.)

Nursing is a direct admit and admits by that major. The College of Letters and Sciences does not admit by major. You are accepted into UCLA with your major but if the Major is in L&S it does not make a difference in which major you select since you can change it later.

You can call UCLA admissions to confirm.

@Gumbymom I see…
Should I use the following link to request a major change?
https://www.admission.ucla.edu/ContactForm/Applicant.aspx

And if I am able to change my application major, would you recommend changing to my alternate major (Korean) or would Undecided be better?

Yes you can use that form to change your major, the deadline is January 31. I would select whichever major you prefer. Neither one will be an easier or a more difficult admit.

@Gumbymom Alright, thanks so much! :blush:
