Does UCLA actually try to place an applicant in their alternative major. I was wondering, because I applied as business economics and math/econ as alternative. I don't have all the prereqs for math but actually hope I get into math/econ because I decided recently that I want to continue math. How do alternative majors work.

Alternate majors are only considered if you are a TAP applicant.

hmm. where does it say that?

Ask any counselor; its a known fact.

so you are saying that i (as a uc to uc transfer) will not be considered for my second major?

The UCLA Admissions Rep. who held a UC Application Q/A has said the same thing. Only TAP students get consideration for an alt. major choice.

It said it in the application. Each school listed the circumstances of whether or not your alternate major would be considered.

I put poli sci as my alternate but am missing 2 pre reqs... would they still consider me for that?

not if you arent tap

yeahhh I am TAP.

you probably need ur prereqs finished as well to be considered for your alternative

well then you would be CONSIDERED for your alternate, but to a competitive major, they wont give you priority admission if you dont have prereqs
