Hey guys!! UCLA Alumni Scholarship calls for interviews are coming out this week, I’ve created this thread so we can talk about it here!
Any emails or calls today? Is so, which state are you in?
No call. One from UCLA confirming my admission and advising me to go to Bruin Day. Cali.
I’m from California. Just got an email at around 11AM PST:
Dear Victoria,
Congratulations! Being accepted to UCLA is a remarkable achievement. Out of the nearly 119,000 applicants this year, you were selected because of your outstanding academic achievements and limitless potential.
In addition, out of 3,776 applicants to the Alumni Scholarships Program, you were one of our top-ranking students from the application review. You are now one step closer on being part of UCLA’s oldest and most prestigious scholarships program and have been selected to move on to the interview round.
What’s next?
Interviews are from April 7-10 at one of our regional sites. Based on your application information, we recommend you sign up for an appointment at our Stevenson site. Please RSVP here:

If you cannot attend this location, or require a phone/Skype interview, please contact us immediately to arrange an alternate time to interview with local Bruin alumni during this timeframe. All of our interview locations can be found on our website.
You must RSVP by Wednesday afternoon to attend a Thursday interview in Denver, Fresno, Las Vegas, New York, or Westlake Village. All others must RSVP by Thursday afternoon.
Wishing you the best of luck!
what are your stats?
I’m from Chicago and I haven’t received any email or phone call. Hopefully they just notify California first for the in state alumni scholarships and the out of state ones are later this week or they don’t call/email everyone in one day
I received the same email as childish20, around noon CST. I’m from the southwest.
DD missed a phone call today from UCLA alumni. What is this call about?
Received an email yesterday at around 11 AM to reserve a time for an interview, I’m pretty scared but really excited!!
@Ballerina016 It could be the alumni association contacting your daughter about an alumni scholarship interview!
Does the alumni committee reject (not give interviews) to some applicants who did not have solid applications? Or do they interview everyone who applied and was accepted to UCLA? How selective are they with their interview offers, if they are denying people interviews?
That would be great @dreambig98, but they did not leave a message.
@Ballerina016 That’s odd! Your daughter could maybe call back tomorrow, for a status update?
Same thing happened to me! I missed a call from the alumni association yesterday but they didn’t leave a voicemail and I haven’t received an email. I wonder if it’s about the scholarship or its confirming our attendance to Bruin Day because my friends that got in as well got called about Bruin Day.
I got the call today! From the Washington DC area. My caller left a message stating he was from the Alumni association and that I should call him back to schedule an interview. My interview is being held tomorrow! (talk about short notice)
Does anyone know how many students from each region they invite to the first round of interviews? I know they ultimately give money to the top 3 or so in each region, so I’m curious to know what my chances are!
@shadaya 2190 SAT sitting score, 4.69 UC GPA, 3.91 UW. I doubt it was my stats though (though they are above average) - my essays were probably what got me through to the interview round.
DD just got email and scheduled interview for this weekend.
The Alumni Scholarship, from what I’ve heard, is basically based on personality, extracurricular involvement, and sharpness (tested by those tricky interview questions!). @maytheforce I do not know how many are invited in each region, but in my region of SoCal there appeared to be 14 available slots, and yes, the top 3 of each region actually get the scholarship!
@Ballerina016 Congrats!!
Looks like all the interview slots are full. Interview sign-up link takes to an event sold-out page and phone goes to VM. We will see what happens on Monday (4/11).
